No, I'm not going to start another newbie spotlight series. I was just doing a little reminiscing yesterday about how back in 2010 - 2013, I used to do a couple of Newbie series. They were titled "BDAM from Bham Spotlights a Newbie and "Last Week's Newbie: First Posts." I didn't get a chance to finish my post, so I stuck it in draft. Ironically, I woke up this morning and found that Debe Maxwell, CRS had stumble upon and commented on a post titled "Dear AR Newbies: A Letter From a Backdoor Ambassador" so I thought I'd go ahead and finish the post.
Anyway, I started thinking I wonder where some of these people are, so I went back to my Newbie posts and clicked on the links to their pages. There was Lauren Selensky, Sinead McAllister, Christine Selzler, Alex Morris, Craig Daniels, Rebecca and Michael Straley, Ron Cooks, and Tom Jansson.
This is a noticeably brief list and I'll tell you why. I must have browsed through all of my newbie posts and clicked on some of the featured newbies and what I found was that
- Many of them didn't hang out here much longer after they started.
- Some lasted through the year they started and some only had one or a very few posts.
- Others hung out here as recently as 2016 and 2018.
That's a shame because there was and is so much to learn from ActiveRain. I know you must be thinking "who am I to talk?" The way I keep weaving in and out of the rain. But hey we're not talking about me😀.
Needless to say, ActiveRain couldn't get rid of Craig Daniels if it tried. Hi Craig. Among my favorites were CA COASTAL ESTATES Lauren Selinsky Perez CRS, Christine Selzler, Alex Morris, and Ron Cooks. They hung around for a while. Ron was hilarious. No, I didn't forget to mention Craig Daniels as being among my favorites, because it is obvious, he is among everybody’s favorite.
On a final note, I want to give a shout out to Kathy Streib. I'm not sure when she picked up the mantle of featuring post (newbies or otherwise), but she has never dropped the ball. Thank you, Kathy, for your commitment.
