SHOULD I BE FRIENDLY TO NEW AGENTS COMMING INTO THE OFFICE? I MEAN IAM NOT A MANAGER OR ANYTHING, SHOULDNT THEY GO ASK ONE IF THEY HAVE ANY QUESTIONS? WHAT IF I GIVE THEM WRONG INFO, LIKE FOR EXAMPLE WE ALL HAVE DIFFERENT SELLING STYLES. SO SHOULD I JUST SAY , SORRY I DONT KNOW, GO ASK A MANAGER?

Of course you should be friendly to new agents, especially if they just joined your office.  One of the reasons I'm so happy at my office is because everyone helps each other out and there's no ego.  On the other hand, it's not your job to train and spend excessive amounts of your time explaining things to the new agent.    There's no harm in helping out with the simple questions though.

Hi Jesus,

I don't know why you wouldn't be friendly to anyone you meet.  I try to remember the saying "treat others like you'd like to be treated".  Have a great week.  Michael A. Caruso

Don't you remember how akward you felt when you started at your new office? Always be friendly to the new agents, they need to feel that they belong. I don't know why you would even ask that!!

Thanks for the post.

I would definitely be friendly...you can give your opinions of what works for you & let them decide on whats best for them.

You should be friendly, but avoid giving broker type advice if you are not the broker.

I would be friendly and I would ask for their card. You never know when you need someone to hold one of your listings open.  Make the new guy feel like they belong. Everyone had to start some where, and once upon a time you were the new kid on the block. I might not give serious advice, I would refer them to the Broker. Good luck and keep smiling!!

Jesus,  With the turn over in most Real Estate offices it might benefit you to help these new agents.  Hopefully, they will remember your kindness and willingness to help them and will refer people to you when they are gone.

Jimmy, no truer words were ever said. The turnover in my office has been unbelievable. There were a thousand agent last year at this time, now we have less than 700. Of those 700, it seems like they are all new people except for about maybe 100 old timers. In the last year people have jumped ship so fast you would have thought it was the Titanic!! Yes it is the world largest Real Estate office on the planet Keller Williams-Southwest Market Center in Austin TX.

In my opinion you should be, because any new agents always or most of time feel very intimidated. Who knows, anybody could be on your next deal.
