To make 2024 the best year ever suggests having an understanding of this word “strategy.” The origins for “strategy” originate from the concept of a general who desires to deceive his enemy. (Greek origin) In today’s dynamic real estate marketplace, that this means for real estate agents to out think and outlast their competition.
Next is an understanding of the Core Foundational Business Statements. A short story may help emphasize why these statements are essential.
In the story about Alice in Wonderland, Alice comes across the Cheshire Cat sitting in the tree and below the tree are several different paths. She politely asks the Cat “Which path should I take?” The Cat replies with this question “Where are you going?” Alice answers “I don’t know.” The Cat smiles and responds “Well, then any path will take you there.”
Before making any misdirected or misguided decisions, this is the time to understand and accept the necessity of these core foundational business statements:
The Purpose Statement – Why am I in business?
The Values Statement – What non-negotiable behaviors will I consistently demonstrate in ALL interactions with all customers, clients, stakeholders and if present, shareholders?
The Vision Statement – Where is my business ultimately heading? This is a well-articulated statement that clearly describes the desired future, supports consistent goal achievement and governs future decisions; thereby making the decision-making process far easier for each small business owner.
The Mission Statement – How will I achieve the Vision Statement? Within the Triage Business Planning: Know Exactly What to Do and When to Do It, Track the Right Things to Product the Right Results, Avoid Misdirected Actions & Misguided Decisions, the Mission Statement is always measured in dollars or a physical number and is for the current calendar or fiscal year. As evidenced by recent lawsuits and the potential recession in 2024, the real estate industry is changing far too fast to have two (2) to five (5) year Mission Statements.
The Company Tagline – What will someone remember or what differentiates my real estate practice? This is a five (5) to 15 word sentence or phrase given when speaking with people. For some real estate brokerages or real estate agents, this may be the unique selling proposition statement. The goal of the company tagline is to differentiate your real estate practice from all the others real estate firms or real estate agents.
Here at Dirt Road Real Estate, the company tagline is:
“Life begins where the pavement ends.”
These core foundational statements evolve from the actual reflection and planning sessions. If the real estate agent or brokerage already has these foundational statements in place, then they may be reviewed and revised depending upon the current planning experience.
