Tropical flowers on Maui are always a hit

I've been a little lazy about blogging and it's time to change that!  I know from seeing the stats that tropical flowers get some eyeballs, especially in the winter months, so here's some eye candy for those of you in the colder climates.

First pic is of orchids growing on a tree, which is pretty easy to do in many parts of the island.

white gardenia flower

The fragrant gardenia will bloom in the spring and fill the air with it's lovely scent.

orchids growing in Lahaina Maui

These orchids were growing in Lahaina Maui, before the fire event of last year.

Queen Emma spider lily flowers in Haiku Maui

The Queen Emma spider lily is a huge flower that can be over 12" across, but with no real scent.

bright orange and yellow hibiscus

And the bright orange hibiscus is a real head turner when you see a large bush covered in blooms.  The blooms only last one day, but there's always more to take it's place.

Thanks for reading my Maui blog...

Interesting that Hibiscus blooms only last a day - do they only bloom once a year?

Thank you for the eye candy!

Hi Georgie,

Georgie, you didn't miss much, some days you couldn't even log on.   Your flowers are so stunning, would love to see them in person in the near future.   I have a friend that could be moving to Maui (she's a REALTOR), and told her I would give her your name.

Joan Cox I hope she's prepared to buy a home because renting is really tough right now.  I can help, and I appreciate your thinking of me.
