Friday Flags at Southbury CT Town Hall
I had done a Friday Flags on the Veteran's Memorial in Southbury CT earlier this month. This memorial parklet sits adjacent to the Town Hall of Southbury, CT, which is also steeped in history.
Earlier this year, the town celebrated its 350 anniversary, with events all over town many of which were centered around the historic sites of the town. A pamphlet on its sites can be seen by following the link provided here on Historic Southbury.
Until the highway system that runs along the town's eastern border was built, Southbury was a rural agricultural town with app 2000 residents.
It has since developed into a town of app 30,000 residents, with some light manufacturing and a lot of retail.
At one time, the famed pianist Victor Borge called Southbury CT Home but in the late 50's he sold his farm to a developer, and it currently houses over 2500 55+ condos.
The town hall itself is a colonial style of architecture but I could not find any information on when it was built.
The area in front of it is also park-like and the flag has its place of honor on a very large pole.
I was fortunate that the wind had enough push to give me a nice photo of the flag for this post.
