Well...it was a short lived 1.5 day Snow storm and that is good!
And the Sun is Shining Bright through my window today!
Interstate 80 was closed for most of Monday and part of Tuesday due to blowing snow and zero visibility with 50mph winds.
Hiway 30 was closed for part of the day and when it opened...the westbound I-80 traffic that jumped over to Hiway 30 made it bumper to bumper at about 20 mph! (The highways are about 3 miles apart and run side by side for about 150 miles) With the north wind blowing the snow over the east/west roads...it was brutal for many drivers.
It is hard to tell in the photo but there were hundreds of semi's and other vehicles westbound at >20mph and those road ditches are almost 4 feet deep.
We only had around 8 inches of snow in our community and for my house...most of it blew away and it was fairly easy to dig out since I started yesterday.
My neighbor, Chris, had knee replacement about 6 weeks ago (remember my A.I. blog when I said I had a friend with a new robot installed knee? Yep, this is her.) She fell during rehab and broke her wrist...so I have been cleaning her drive for her. Evidently her 3 kids are too busy to come and help...
Chris' snow was almost 2 feet deep and it took me almost 2 hours to snow blow her drive. Not sure why it all hung up in her drive but it gave my new snow blower a heckuva workout. Where her red Toyota is sitting...earlier today there was over 2 feet of snow.
All is good Now...and with the great sunshine...and getting done before lunch...the drives are going to be mostly dry which is very good since we are supposed to get 2 inches on Thursday followed by 4 or 5 days of below Zero temps.
Heck, I was even negotiating a potential contract while snowblowing today!
I am looking forward to about 69 days from now when the first day of spring gets here!! I used to love the cold and now just tolerate it.
But we made it through another storm with
little damage to the community infrastructure and that is alright by me!
Until Next Time...Keep Your Snow Shovel Ready if You Are in Snow Country...Looks like a wet Winter is upon us! And the fields need the moisture!
