The Railway stations and Depots still dot Waukesha County Wisconsin

One thing I always welcome when Lars and I drove through the Waukesha Country Real Estate market is all the beautiful old train stations and depots that have been preserved and are a welcome sight. The history that these beautiful stations and depots have are long ans wonderful. The large outstanding train station and depot in Oconomowoc is a great example. After the Milwaukee Road pulled its passenger service in the mid-1970s, it was vacant for years.

Today the depot is a popular restaurant and on the National Register of Historic Registers.Another station is the one in the City of Waukesha.

The Waukesha train depot on Williams Street may indeed be a historic landmark, giving the depot-turned-restaurant a great charm.

In Genesee Depot the former Milwaukee Road depot now houses a restaurant called the Genesee Cafe. The one in Hartland has been restored by the Hartland Historical society, and everywhere from Pewaukee, Sussex, Genesee Depot, and more municipalites these played a important role in life. In Nashotah the onetime Milwaukee Road depot houses a cabinet-making facility.

In Okauchee there is little is known about this former Milwaukee Road depot, which is now said to be a private home. In North Prairie the depot on Main Street is now a restaurant. For more Waukesha County Depots  Railroad Depots - Restored
