It's Always Festive in Prospect CT's Center

Our town of Prospect CT is a small town with barely 11,000 in population. A few years back we were recognized as a top 300 place to live by Money Magazine in their annual review.

Town government is well managed and there are celebrations and recognition of all major holidays.

The town center has an island that serves as an informational area as signs are allowed to be posted to recognize special events.

It's also decorated for the time of year and for the Christmas holidays, the evergreen that is on the green is covered with lights.

We didn't have snow for Christmas, but we have it now and as I was driving through town, I stopped long enough to grab this photo.

It was too cold to wait for it to get darker, but I thought this was almost as good.

Good morning Ed. When I was young my parents lived in a small town of 2500. As there are probably that many people within a two block radius of my building, if not more, I miss the small town atmosphere of my youth. Enjoy your day.

Hello Ed and take care driving in that snow.  Back from vacation in Florida and it was not above 67 down there.

Hi Ed
I think it would enjoy living in a small town like Prospect, but probably not in the winter.

Wayne Martin   We are relatively new to the town only living here for 28 years, and there are people that do feel that way as well.

Kat Palmiotti  After the holidays, that is a most appropriate way to refer to the tree. At some point they will take down the star.

Bill Salvatore - East Valley   Thanks for taking the time to stop and get a few points.

Will Hamm  That temperature had to be at least 60 degrees warmer than the best day in Denver

Carol Williams   It has its features. It is also the only place in the area with a 9-hole golf course that has lights and can be played until 11PM at night.

Thanks for stopping Roy Kelley

Ed, Surprised to see the tree and star all lit up. But, it does look festive surrounded by the snow!

Lawrence "Larry" & Sheila Agranoff. Cell: 631-805-4400   It stays lit for a while but I'm thinking it will be shut down at the end of the month.

Wanda Kubat-Nerdin - Wanda Can!   People do seek out homes in town when they hit the market., a lot of the families because of the school system.

George Souto   I was fortunate that I was able to pass the town review board for acceptability when we were looking to buy in town.

Jeff Dowler, CRS   It has evolved from the days of big plastic ornaments and multi-colored lights. A lot of that because of the growth of the tree but the white lights do make it special.

Brian England   The town offer a lot with value for homes, a good school system and well managed for taxes.

Kathy Streib   Good for you with no snow. We are into a freeze that has lasted for almost a month without getting over 32 but hopefully get a reprieve this week.  That tree does show well as it is isolated on the green and right at a 4-way light intersection.

Myrl Jeffcoat   It beckons for one to stop and appreciate it.
