Little but LOUD!

By
Services for Real Estate Pros with Ward County Notary Services 607851

Last month I mentioned the big voice of Brenda Lee. Many thought that she was a adult midget because they could not believe such a little girl could have such a powerful voice. As Timmothy's cartoon points out a little guinea pig can have a loud voice.

A Real Estate agent can also have a BIG voice.

A common question presented here by new agents and students hoping to be licensed soon is how do I get my name out there and generate business. Most new agents do not take the time to do a serious study of how to reach their target audience. Many fall trap to the ghouls that promise them leads through email advertising and many fall prey to their own misconceptions as to the "best" way to advertise.

Advertising starts with figuring out who is your intended target. If your response to that is everyone then you better have deep pockets because you are a ship without a rudder. Some defined target groups may be:

Retires who are downsizing

Young families looking to be 1st time home owners

Military moving into or leaving the community

Agricultural sales

Commercial sales

Once you have determined who you want to represent you need to figure out how to reach that group set. ie you are NOT going to reach many retires on the latest social media sites. You are NOT going to reach a lot of young families on NPR. You are going to have a hard time reaching military personal if the nearest base is 200 miles away. You may have trouble reaching potential Ag customers through The Wall Street Journal. Finding commercial RE customers may be difficult on a Goth blog.

Hopefully you get the idea.

If you don't take the time to investigate the demographics of who you want to reach you will be throwing your money away.

The most effective way to make a BIG splash so to be out in public and shaking hands. If that is not for you then rethink your plan to be a Real Estate professional.

I was not a super star in the business but I made a good living for my family. My business was built on my Christian beliefs. I advertised on Christian Radio stations, I shook a lot of hands at church, I went to and sponsored many Christian events. I went out of my way to meet Christian Builders, contractors, and even developers.

Spend your TIME and money where your clients (target audience) is/are. I can not emphasize enough that Real Estate is not a product that sells via internet interactions. People want to meet face to face when dealing with the largest purchase of their lives.

Do you enjoy the cartoons written by my son (Timmothy N. Timm) which I use as a springboard to write my daily posts? His strip, Titus & Philemon, has run in two newspapers for years as well as being printed in my blog every day. Titus & Philemon (pronounced Phi - Lee -Man) are guinea pigs. Their owner is Joe. Timmothy has never repeated a joke/comic strip in the 12 years he has been writing it. He has never copied another strip, such as Peanuts or Garfield. You can follow Timmothy on FB as Titus & Philemon and you can also check him out on Instagram as Instagram.com/titus and philemon/ .For Timmothy's website type timmtimmothy.com into your browser. I tried to put it in a link here but it refuses to work. Do NOT put anything in front of timmtimmothy.com or it will not work.

She dd have a powerful voice and I do remember hearing it aa lot around Christmas but don't remember all the songs.

We're the broadcaster of our potential and the more we blast the more opportunities that present themselves.

Peggy Lee is heard around our home a lot during Christmas, especially "Rockin Round the Christmas Tree".

Isn't it funny that the most effective advertising is us and that it is free.

When I was first licensed I was affiliated with a Century 21 office.  My gold jacket was a valuable tool.  To give you an idea, On my very first day of going to work, I had decided to put in a short day.  I went into the office, and my broker handed me the gold jacket.  Early in the afternoon, on my way home, I decided to stop off at the local grocery store to pick up a few things.  During the check-out the clerk said, "Oh, I didn't know you were in real estate."  My response was, "Oh, you didn't."  Turned out, she and her husband were looking to buy a bigger home and sell their existing home.  That evening, I listed their home.  A few days later I sold them their new home.

My kids were on a swim team, so I picked up clientele that way.  I also wrote and distributed newsletters in my community.

I do think having a niche can be hugely helpful! There's no way to focus on everyone.

I am amazed by the pipes on small kids or small creatures when they let out their screams, haha.

The Gold Jacket is a great example Myrl Jeffcoat of being out in public and letting them know you are a Realtor. I never worked for C21 but I always wore a name badge and my Realtor pin. A lot of fellow Realtors gave me a ribbing (including here on AR) but the joke was on them because it got me business I otherwise would not have had.

Thank you for the feature in the Old Farts Club group!

I assume some people have had success with purchased leads Endre Barath, Jr. but I would bet that number is very minimal. Pounding the pavement to get some signs up is the true way to success. Good job my friend!

Well said Kat Palmiotti . My niche was working with builders and with Christian Radio listeners.

It seems there is nothing louder than a crying/screaming child Brian England , especially in a restaurant.
