Throwback Thursdays - Can You Name This Kitchen Tool?

I visited one of my favorite antique stores the other day and caught a peek at a classic kitchen staple from yesteryear: the vintage manual ice crusher. Remember this?

This fun contraption is just like the one my parents & grandparents had - including the color - the silver top and bright red base. I literally stood in the store, holding the ice crusher, reminiscing of my childhood and making a refreshing icy drink - and I didn’t mind at all operating the ice crusher!

Before the convenience of modern electric appliances, this gadget was a must-have for cocktail parties and for hot summer days. The crunch of the ice and the coolness it brought to a fizzy homemade lemonade brings back wonderful childhood memories. What a cool piece of history that tells stories of past gatherings and the simple joys of life's little pleasures.

Happy Thursday!

Hello Debe - I recall this (or at least a similar) device while growing up.  It was fun as well as a chance to show some creativity in preparation, right?  Admittedly, the interest didn't last long and I never acquired one as an adult.  I wonder if my mom still has the one I remember as a child.  I doubt it but now you have me wondering.   🍧

Good morning Debe. I knew what it was right away. Now I am not sure why. Knowledge or a swag. Since it is the right answer that counts, I'll take it. Enjoy your day.

I have seen them but never used one myself, haha.  I remember at my Grandpa's farm, he had a commercial-sized ice maker and it made the best crushed ice ever.

I actually have never seen or used one of those! Now if you found an old ice cream maker, I'd know what it was!

I have never seen one of those, I always used a hammer, or a rolling pin to crush ice, of course the ice was in a tea towel for hygiene reasons.

Oh yes, Miss Debe Maxwell, CRS the good old days of yesteryear.  I do remember how we made snow cones.  There is something about the "retro" look and feel that triggers such fond memories.
