Had I seen this cartoon yesterday I would have worked it into my AI post yesterday: AI, it's Only Natural. As it works out this cartoon works with an experience I had last night.
For reasons yet unknown our power went out around midnight. Oddly enough the silence woke me up. I am used to having a fan on as well as a dream machine that sounds like an ocean beach.
Typically on a late January evening this would be a BIG concern. Most late January evenings in Minot North Dakota offer sub zero temperatures and stiff winds to go along with that but last night the mercury settled around 24 degrees above zero.
Because it was fairly warm out (for ND in January) I did not feel the need to rush out and start my camping generator which I had at the ready since last Fall. Years ago I had the electrician put in a circuit that would allow me to run the generator to power the furnace for just such an emergency. A little after 5:00 AM I decided I better go out and hook it up. Before I could get dressed the power came on (5 hours later).
My wife and I shared our concerns over our nations power grid and all the potential domestic terrorists flooding over our Southern boarder. Oddly enough when the 6:00 AM News came on the top story they reported on was that 10 past National security advisors are sounding the alarm that we are vulnerable to potential domestic terrorists flooding over our Southern boarder and targeting our power grid.
