Auburn University has celebrated 125 years of women on campus since September 27, 2019. The university’s 125th anniversary of women includes:
- A statue that commemorates the first female students enrolled at Auburn in 1892
- A year-long campaign to celebrate the 125th anniversary of women at Auburn
- The Auburn Creed, written by George Petrie in 1942
Auburn University is the oldest four-year, coeducational school in Alabama and the second-oldest in the Southeast. Women were admitted in 1892, but their contributions and accomplishments are often not recognized equally to those of men.
