Can AI Help to Cure Deadly Diseases

Ther is an irony to me at least with the title of this post and the challenge for this month.  AI is here and it isn't going away and will only get larger as new ways are found to put it to use.

I caught a segment on CNN on a Sunday past and the guest was speaking to the advances made with AI in medicine and how within the next decade, it will be common for AI to be involved in patient diagnoses.

That is already on the radar as was pointed out in a Zoom call not long ago by Paddy Deighan MBA JD PhD   He spoke of a company doing research on AI for medical testing and that it was conceivable that with just an analysis of one's voice, diseases could be uncovered in that person.

Can AI Help to Cure Deadly Diseases

It's not beyond the realm of possibility to at least venture that seine will find a way to get AI to analyze data from sick people and be asked to come up with an answer. Taking it a step even further, why not give it the research done on any given disease and asked it to analyze and offer a solution.

Lay people may not know what to ask, but a research specialist that has already accumulated base date in a disease and is trying to find a link to the cause too get the cure, would be better qualified for that.

Could it be that that guest, and I apologize for not getting the name at the time, have already seen something along these lines that would allow hm to make the declaration that there will be major advancements over the next decade?

He was an accomplished author and from England, so maybe someone quicker than I can offer a name.

Yes, it's nice to think AI can write a listing description for us and even a blog post, but put to good use, a cure for a cold, diabetes, cancer?

Only time will tell and it that's the case and comes to fruition, I can't wait.

Hello Ed - I don't think we have seen the extent of what help AI might offer in a number of fields.    Consequences of all kinds are likely to follow as well.  We shall see. . .

Hi Ed- this is where I hope AI goes...ethically and in service to the good of humans. Recently a mother used ChatGPT to diagnose what was causing the pain her son was enduring after 17 physicians could not.

It seems like Neuralink is doing some amazing things and I think they just implanted their chip into the first human recently.

Carol Williams   With any computer system, you get out of it what you input. If a researcher puts in variables that have been tried and shown some promise, I don't see why the AI portion couldn't offer up additional possibilities to try.

Jeff Masich-Scottsdale AZ Associate Broker,MBA,GRI   On one of the Zoom calls earlier Paddy Deighan MBA JD PhD  mentioned a company with which he is familiar that is developing  a program that will diagnosis a person's health, including unknown issues the person may have from a brief verbal input. The voice tones offer clues.

Roy Kelley thanks for taking the time to stop and comment.

George Souto   It has long been understood that with commuters 'garbage in, garbage out.  I see no reason why the same can be applied to diagnostic research data and if AI can offer tutorials on data, it should also be able to offer different slants on data that just might trigger a cure.

Hannah Williams   Computers have made big changes in all our lives, it is only logical that it can offer more.

Michael Jacobs   I agree, for what we have seen in the past 5 years alone, the next decade will be something far greater.

Kathy Streib  That is my point exactly. An unbiased machine doesn't know what it thinks it knows it just offers information for the user to use.

Brian England   The possibilities are there we cannot offer what may seem too farfetched considering that a computer with the proper information offers.

Hi Ed:

I think the opportunities for AI in the medical world, beyond where we already are and have heard about, are pretty far reaching. No doubt over the next few years we will see lots of medical advancements in diagnosis and treatment.

As a former RN, I am encouraged by the diagnostic possibilities that AI could help the medical world. There is so much knowledge and brilliance by our physicians and health care personnel, the possibility of correct diagnosis and treatment hopefully continues to advance at lightning speed. Oh, and yes AI can write a listing description for the MLS...But the possibility to cure and or prevent the maladies that we know about is the direction we hope AI takes us.

Kind on going old news. IBM used Watson supercomputer spent over $1B in R&D came up with Watson Ocology only to find how difficult it is to apply AI deal with cancer. Too busy to make money not enough time to find valid cases that AI works 1 for all.

Furthermore, the treatment is based on doctors personal knowledge not recommended by Watson Ocology. It looks taking more than a few billion dollars to get to the next level.

Will Hamm   I don't know if it's good information just a wondering if AI can be used in a special way.

Jeff Dowler, CRS   The probability is there especially after hearing on the zoom Call with Paddy Deighan MBA JD PhD  that a company has developed the ability to do a diagnosis after just 20 seconds of a voice recording.

Margaret Rome Baltimore 410-530-2400   I totally agree that its something I would like to read about in the coming short years ahead.

Sam Shueh    Only time will tell.  On a zoom call not too long ago, Paddy Deighan MBA JD PhD  was offering some insights on what AI has been doing. He knows of a company that has successfully created an application that allows a computer to her voice inflections for 20 seconds and it gives a health diagnosis.  The use of the program will get a success and maybe more by accident than by a skilled attempt. Here's hoping.

Kat Palmiotti   Only time will tell, and it will be appreciated if it does.  That development will be so well received, and it will be with the research into computers done for over 50 years.
