...Age-Proofed

Our middle son and his wife are having their 1st child (a boy! 😎) and they happen to be building a new home. This started Pam & me down memory lane and the things we did to baby-proof our home. Naturally, we did all the things people usually do so I won't bore you with the details. I will say, that things are a little less concerning now since we came across plant-based cleaning products. The ones we use don't even require those caps even an adult struggles to get open. We still have the under-the-sink cabinet door hooks, door knob guards, stairway, and room gates like those shown below.

Amazon.com: Upgraded Invisible Baby Proofing Cabinet Latch Locks (10 Pack) - No Drilling or Tools Required for Installation, Works with Most Cabinets and Drawers, Works with Countertop Overhangs, Highly Secure : Baby EUDEMON 4 Pack Baby Safety Door Knob Covers Door Knob Locks - Walmart.com 35.8" High Self-Close White Safety Baby Gate (Extended), Two-Way Open Door for Toddlers and Pets, Adjustable Length, No Drilling Required, Suitable for Houses, Stairs, Doorways by EXCITED WORK - Walmart.com

So anyhow, I started poking around the internet and found this jammed with information article from "The Bump" about baby-proofing your home which prompted me to share it with you all. For you Southerners, y'all 😁

Baby Proof Your Home

Oh, and one more thing. We are senior citizens in our 70's, (well Pam's 29 with 47 years experience...lol) and we have a newfound appreciation for a good handrail and grab bars. We are now age-proofing our own home again (along with baby-proofing again)

Congratulations on the upcoming grandbaby! We were just talking about our home and what we'll have to do whenever our granddaughter comes to visit. We're definitely not a child-proof home at the moment.

Hi and congratulations on the upcoming arrival of your grandbaby. My brother age-proofed his house when his in-laws came to live with them for several months. When Larry and I returned to Houston, we made a point of finding a home with the main bedroom downstairs. The fewer stairs I have to negotiate the better.

Hi Kathy Streib

I just attended our monthly Council on Ageing Men's Breakfast. Our speaker was an EMT from the fire department who briefed us on steps we could take to stay safe. There's so much we can do to make our surroundings more friendly
