Motivational Monday – Know and Apply Your Talents

By

Believe it or not we all have talents. As human beings, our talents are often the same and often quite different. The one commonality I have discovered is the super majority of people don’t know their talents, what they do really well.

Unfortunately, they do know what they don’t do as well as.

Motivation works the best when we focus on what we do well.  However, if we don’t know what we do well, we may be spinning our wheels or heaven forbid moving backwards.

The talent in in the choices.

Robet De Niro

A really great talent finds its happiness in execution.

Johann Wolfgang von Goethe

Your talent is God’s gift to you. What you do with it is your gift back to God.

Leo Buscaglia

Use the talents you possess; the woods would be very silent if no bird sang there except those that sang best.

Henry Van Dyke

Everybody has talent, it’s just a matter of moving around until you’ve discovered what is is.

George Lucas

P.S. On this Motivational Monday, begin with this goal to know your talents and then apply your talents you do well and stop focusing on those talents you do not do as well as.

This is really good advice!  When we focus on our talents things will end up much better for us!

From my experience, your statement is quite true:

When we focus on our talents things will end up much better for us!

Hello Leanne - this is a thoughtful post and one worthy of longtime consideration.  Interpretation plays a part and the various quotes from a diverse selection of authors is quite interesting (and intriguing too).  Hmm...  And that's truly a beginning.  Happy Monday.

Good to read you find the quotes to be relevant. Also thank you for the kind words "this is a thoughtful post and one worthy of longtime consideration," Happy Monday to you as well.

Hi Leanne,
I think we can find our true talent by starting with what interests us or, sometimes, what we are forced to do. For instance, I was forced to learn to sew to save money by making my own clothes. I discovered I had quite a talent for it. It's not something I continue to do in my life now, but I could if I needed to.

We aren't good at much of anything when we first start, but if we have the desire, we can get pretty good at just about anything.  You are right, though; we ALL have special talents. It's fervently pursuing them that is the key.

There are exceptions, of course. Such as I can NOT sing worth beans. I could probably get better if I tried, though.

My sense is there are talents within sewing that you connected to sewing and hence the enjoyment. Yes it is the desire. As my husband has often said the question is not that I know it, but do I want to do it. If I want to do it (the desire), I will find how to do it.

Good Morning Leanne and I wish I still had the talent I did at a younger age.  Love the quotes you are sharing

Hi Leanne- it's sad that many have untapped talents because they are unaware of them. One of the best gifts we can give to someone is to help them uncover those talents.

So true and if you know of anyone who would like to know their "talents" please let me know. There is a cost, but the investment is incredible for the gained clarity and potential results.
