That Mahomes!

By
Real Estate Agent with Retired

As a lifelong Raider's fan, I must always side with whoever plays against the villainous Kansas City Chiefs.  It is in my blood!  I also grew up as a Bay Area fan, since my hometown, Stockton, was so close to it.  My wife and I had high hopes as we braved the brutal Arizona winter weather to watch the game at a friend's house. I even was able to persuade MM to wear my 1988 antique Niner sweatshirt.  It is a funny thing.  Extra large was much bigger back in the day!  🤣

Super Bowl 2024

That Mahomes ruined everything, though, by leading his team to victory against a very good defense.  Mahomes is a guy this Raider fan could learn to like, especially if he was to mend his errant ways and become a Raider.  He would look so good in Silver and Black!

Now, on to the serious stuff.

When is this brutal winter going to be over?  I don't think I can take another day in the upper 60's!

Did you like the half time show?  I thought it started slow and ended most excellent!

What was the favorite part of your Super Bowl Feast?  A good Samaritan brought the best ribs that I have had in years to our party.

Did any of the commercials strike your fancy this year?  We enjoyed the Arnold commercial, "Like a good neighbaaa, just like it is written on the pappaaa!"

Who is going to win next year's Super Bowl?  You don't have to answer that one.  We all know that it is going to be THE RAIDERS! ! !  Or as Arnold would say, "GO RAIDAAA'S! ! !

Hi Ray- Mahomes is a Texas boy and also went to Texas Tech...Larry is from Lawrence KS so the Streib household was rooting for the Chiefs!!!  That said, I thought the Chiefs played a sloppy game in the first half with an unnecessary penalty too.

Can you believe the two record breaking field goals...first by the 49rs only to be broken by the Chiefs' Butkers!!!

I too loved the ad with Schwarzenegger and was underwhelmed with the half time show.

I tend to support the 49ers, since I live in Sacramento.  However, I was born in Kansas, and have family there.  I'm also a Swiftie, so I really wasn't totally disappointed when the 49ers lost.  It was an exciting game!

Hello Ray - although I am not a football fan, I can cheer whenever you make an AR appearance.   That said, the television was on for most of the game.  I saw some commercials, thought the half time show was impressive and didn't care who won or didn't.  The cultural impact interests me so that provides food for thought. So, yes, I am satisfied.

I am sure that it is tough being a Raiders fan, much in the same way that it is tough to be a Cardinals fan, haha.  You and Mary Margaret are looking good in the Arizona sunshine!

Funny about the weather.

One of our sons was living near Kansas City for a while and he turned me on to the Chiefs and Mahomes. So that's who I was rooting for and was hooting and hollering at the end!

The halftime show wasn't my thing. It was a Sunday and I made pizza as usual!

Enjoy your day!

The smothered burrito sounds delicious!  I can't wait for the Broncos to play the Raiders next year.  We can share some good-natured football trash talking with each other. 😉

I was surprised by Kelce's actions, Carol Williams.  He did go over the line.

Hi Ray Henson
As I mentioned to Kat, I hate that Reid is making excuses for him and accepting it as ok behavior.

I even heard Kelce taking credit as it being the turning point in the game.  I doubt that and it was a very bad look.  I am sure Reid will have something to say about it behind closed doors.  He is a very powerful figure, too.

You have that right, Ed Silva, 203-206-0754.  It has been a tough road to follow the Raiders for quite sometime.  One day!

I have to agree with you, Dorie Dillard Austin TX.  Mahomes is a good man.  Still, when he goes against the Raiders, I will forget that I said that out loud.  Ha!

I thought it was remarkable that the kickers his those long field goals and then one of them missed an extra point, Kathy Streib.  Nothing is ever guaranteed!

It is a challenge, Endre Barath, Jr. It makes it tough for me to harvest all of our beautiful citrus when that slight chill is in the air. 😃

As a Stockton boy, I have lived and died with Bay Area teams my whole life.  I learned early on that having two teams to root for with each sport made life much more interesting.  Thank you so much for the feature!

You are too kind, Michael Jacobs.  Thank you for stopping by after my long absence.  I am hoping to make a bit of a comeback.  At least, I hope my results end up being more successful than the Niners results!

I do believe that I will be rooting for Arizona teams in the future.  I do like a good underdog, Brian England.  I think you may make it into my next post, my friend.  Andy guesses what the content might be?

I have a bad feeling that you are going to blog about pickleball Ray Henson, haha.  May I suggest a post about inviting Brian over for a nice meal and adult libations instead?

That is an open invitation, Brian England and very astute of you guessing pickleball!  🤣

Homemade pizza sounds delicious, Kat Palmiotti.  I have only done it two or three times, but they turned out well.  Enjoy your day, too!

As a life-long Bay Area resident and 49ers fan, I was disappointed by the outcome of the game.

I was not impressed by the halftime entertainment.

Mahomes is the real thing! The guy is going into the Hall of Fame, for sure.

I can't believe how much he has accomplished so far and that he is only 28, John Juarez.  He has already accomplished enough to be in the Hall of Fame.  What a player!

Ray Henson - since I am clueless when it comes to Football, I'll comment on your photograph. That is a wonderful photo of you and your wife. By the smile on your faces, it looks like both of you are having the time of your lives! I think your new life, adventures, and things you are doing that are enjoyable, are making you look like you're younger each time you pose together.
