Do You Really Love What You Do?

By
Real Estate Agent with Dirt Road Real Estate SA676002000

When I read this quote by Katherine Graham,

"To love what you do and feel that it matters – how could anything be more fun?,"

once again reaffirmed what I tell potential clients to clients to even colleagues,

I Love Selling Dirt!

Sure, here in Mohave County, AZ and surrounding communities such as Golden Valley, Yucca, Chloride, White Hills dirt is usually much less expensive than selling homes.  Going the extra mile, I am not looking to make six figures.  And if I did, my husband who is a Vietnam Veteran would be quite upset with me as he doesn’t want to pay the federal government any more dollars.

Physically walking the dirt of the high desert vacant land with a potential client, locating the property markers or using an app, OnxHunt, to find the proximity of the property corners is lots of fun. Seeing open range cattle, wild burros or the occasional wild horse only adds to this love of selling dirt. Of course, making sure one doesn’t step into a ground squirrel tunnel or coming across a not so friendly snake is not so much fun.

Out here caution goes hand in hand or

foot in foot with fun.

Then when a client closes on a piece of dirt and begins realizing his, her or their vision brings such personal satisfaction to me and indeed happiness. Often clients will send me photos of their progress as they turn that vacant land parcel into their vision.

Owning a piece of dirt reaffirms “under all is the land.” Working with a professional real estate agent who knows the “dirt” and is willing to tour various “dirt parcels” until that piece of dirt speaks to you makes all those trips worthwhile.

Hello Leanne - perspective continues to play a role in life for me.  And as Valentine's Day remains a recent memory that comes to words like love and other emotions.

My sense is perspective continues to play as we evolve, age and experience more of life, the expected and unexpected.  My sense is for the most part I truly love what I have done in my life. Yet selling real estate in the high desert has brought together my love and appreciation for nature and supporting others in realizing their goals and ultimately their dreams.

If I loved Real Estate I would not have retired at the age of 63 Leanne Smith . Having said that there were many parts of Real Estate I truly enjoyed. The one job I totally LOVED was working with churches but that occupation dissolved with the sale of the company I was working for. The new company (Lifetouch Photography) had/has horrible policies and I could not work for them.

Leanne it's clear that you love selling dirt and you love nature!  That shows through over and over in your photos and your stories.  Love that about you!

Thank you for those very kind words. Yes I do love nature and more so being able to connect nature to selling dirt. I could overwhelm this forum with the incredible photos I have taken. Again, thank you

Leanne Smith it is important to love what we do.  If we don't then it is time to find something else.

I definitely wouldn't say that I have loved life in real estate, but there have been some good times for sure, haha.

Hi Leanne,
I think a sign of loving what you do is relishing in the happiness people get after you have helped them along the way. That is fun and rewarding.
