Serendipity Sundays ~ A Cold Day's Victory on the Football Field

On a chilly Saturday in Austin, with temperatures plummeting into the 30’s and a fierce wind whipping through, I braved the elements to attend my grandson Hudson's final flag football game of the season.

Despite the biting cold, I was determined to be there to cheer him on.

Wrapped up in layers, armed with a blanket and my trusty chair, I settled in for the game. And I'm so glad I did! Hudson showed his skills as quarterback, making some impressive throws to his teammates who managed to turn them into exciting touchdowns. His team emerged victorious, and I couldn't be prouder of him and his teammates.

Adding to the pride, Hudson's dad was the coach, so a big shout-out to him for his part in their success. It was a cold day, but the warmth of seeing Hudson excel on the field made it all worth it.

“The strength of the team is each individual member. The strength of each member is the team.” Phil Jackson

Hello Dorie - there continues to be evidence of shifts.  In seasons, in sports and in all sorts of things.  Our memories continue to change, adjust and adapt as well.  Thanks for the Austin weather update too - such reports make the country seem a little closer even though the distance may be kinda far.

It was 72 on Friday in Austin Michael Jacobs so Saturday was a big shift! The wind is what made it so cold. It's colder today, but the sun is out and  in the 50's. Tomorrow cold in the morning but back in the high 60's which I will revel in! I don't mind 30's in the morning as long as the sun is out and the temperatures climb into the 60's. We are told we will be 80 on Wednesday! Just wait 24 hours in Texas and you never know what weather will be, many surprises!

Hello Dorie, looks like it was cold but that is good for football games.  Sounds like he will be a great QB.

Hi Dorie- I feel your pain. While I was inside for much of the day, we cut our walk short because of the winds. I had a baby shower to attend and the winds were so bad I needed two hands on the wheel to keep the car steady. Glad for Hudson!!!! Yea!!!!! And good for you for braving the weather.

Congrats to Hudson and the team for the win! Bitter cold is not enjoyable one bit, hope you had hand warmers to help, Dorie. Went to Washington state for 10 days and it was rainy and cold for the most part but a down parka staved off the cold quite nicely while we went on walks.

What is football without the chill?  Layered up and ready to enjoy.  Perfect.  Not to mention your Grandson seeing Grandma on the sidelines to witness the win.  m

Wow, you are quite the trooper!  If the temps outside were that low in my area, I think they would cancel the event, haha.

Playing football in 30 degree temps is one way to stay warm.  Sitting in the stands watching - Not so much!😊
