Big Fish Story

Image

Wow, Bethesda's own Jean-Philippe Lartigue reeled in a new Maryland record with a 17.44 pounds rainbow trout from Antietam Creek! A tip of the hat for a catch that outdid a 1987 record by over 3 pounds. What a legendary fish tale!

Hello Roy - that's quite a catch.  I am not a fisherman despite encouragement from my father.  My most memorable experience fishing came when I was a pre-teen.

I vividly remember the trip as quite scenic.   My adventure in fishing led to reeling in a man's yellow long-sleeved shirt.  I am unsure of its weight, but it put up quite the fight for a twelve-year-old boy as I recall.   🐟

I am not much of a fisherman, but that does indeed look like a really big fish, haha.

That is a very large fish. That creek has to have a lot of deep holes where it has been hiding for years.

I have never seen a 17 pound Rainbow trout.  I think the biggest I've seen was about 6 pounds.  That's a whopper!

Thanks for sharing this great story. There are always many fish tales about the size of the catch but that photo is certainly impressive.
