Tuesday is Choose Day - Chose Life's Treasures!

Wild horses never cease to amaze me. This pair was seen in Switzerland. I've seen mountains and horses. I've run with the wind, and I climbed to tops of the Appalachian Mountains, Pleasant Mountain in Maine, Crawford Notch in New Hampshire, stood on Glacier Cliffs in Montana, and even peaks of the Alps. But wild horses intrigue me. They are free thinkers and steady on their feet. They can gallop with ease and without worries. Horses can get along, just fine, without depending on humans.

The horses I saw in Tuscany in 2010 also amazed me! As a child, my mother braided my hair for many school pictures. But as an adult, I never saw a horse with braided hair until I went on a retreat to Italy. On my bucket list is to ride horses. The interconnectedness between horses, places I've been, and the mountains throughout the world offers fascinating insights. I choose to travel as often as possible.

Conquering my Fears in Glacier National Park was a post I wrote on 10/8/2016. It was the last time I drove and climbed solo at Glacier National Park in Montana. I experienced true fear. Before then, I was fearless and hiked without any trepidations. Aging in place makes one think differently and choose steps wisely. While on the cliff above where the photo in the blog post link was taken, two women were hiking behind me. They asked me to take a photo of them and I did. But when I turned and noticed just how narrow that ledge was my heart sank. The women did not pass me. They turned around. I stood alone. Nor did I see what they saw as I snapped their picture or stepped towards them to give them back their camera. As they turned and walked away, I looked down. I could not turn back around from where I stood. No, I could not go any further. A sudden free fall was not on my agenda. Below is another photograph I took at Glacier National Park. I learned I am content to walk beneath the mountains and to look up!

Switzerland is a beautiful country. I wrote this post long ago. But it is still one of my favorites. Switzerland: Roads Less Traveled. I hiked numerous times with my daughter and son-in-law. But the photos from the link above were scenes I saw while spending the day all to myself while they were at work. I must confess. I was so enthralled by my adventure, down winding country roads, I got lost. It was then I cursed myself for not leaving breadcrumbs. Travelers do stupid things when they lose track of time and have no sense of directions. Obviously, I found my way back to their house, but whether I told them I was lost, or kept it to myself, I don't remember. Some things on trips are worth remembering and sharing. Other things are not.

May the good life be with you always. Tuesday is Choose Day. I choose to remember the places I've been and documented with photojournalism. Patricia

Lovely photos, when I was younger I rode, as did my older brother and sister. They competed on a more serious level than I did. As I mentioned before, I lived in a Walter Mitty world of my imagination where I was either riding across the Wild West or somewhere else. Anyway, we used to braid or plait our horses manes and tails when we competed. It was a time consuming task and I am not sure they really liked it either. But I have never seen horses out in the field with braids.

There is a charity near us that uses horses to help children with mental disabilities and physical I believe. Horses like all animals have an understanding of people's needs.

Yes, I believe that Walter is still there inside me, maybe not given as much rein as when I was younger.

Nick Vandekar, 610-203-4543 - you must have had a fun childhood! As a City Slicker, I did not have opportunities to learn how to ride horses. But I did learn to run as fast as I could! Your "Walter Mitty world," sounds so interesting! Does Walter Mitty still live inside you? I used to take my children out to the country and every time we saw horses, I would pull over. I was always amazed at how quickly the horses saw us. Or was it our human scent? What I always thought was extra special is when the horses bent down their heads to the eye level of my children and allowed them to pet the horses. They are very intelligent animals on earth. I think every child should go to horse school, at least once in their lifetime.

Patricia Feager, MBA, CRS, GRI,MRP  : You have chosen wisely. What beautiful pictures. I love horses. My mothers said I always said I wanted to own horses, though I never remember that. You made me laugh when you said you wished you had left breadcrumbs. Happy Tuesday

Hannah Williams - You must have been very young. Mothers never forget their children's dreams. Do you still like horses?

I'm glad you laughed about the breadcrumbs!

Happy Tuesday to you too!!!

Hello Patricia - I sense something quite special with your equine connection.  The photos you share combine with your memories to create an interesting mindscape for me.  The movement of your post gallops away to imaginative points.  Impressively.

Michael Jacobs - The equine connection is very real for me. Happiness is when what you think something will make you happy, and what you do is to make it come true by taking action, and it does come to fruition. Right now, I have something else in the works. For now, the equine dream drifts off to sleep on my pillow.

Your photos are amazing - I too love the mountains! And yes, sometimes being in them can be truly frightening. As for horses, I'll encourage you to do the riding! I'll stay on the ground. :-)

Good morning Patricia,

What a great way to choose Life's Treasures! Love your photos and horses amaze me too! My cousin who lived in VT rode horses so when I'd go there to stay for a week I had the opportunity to ride.
