Okay , I admit it, I love the Baltimore Orioles

.       My favorite Christmas present this year was a pare

of Socks (lol) . But as you can see these weren’t

ordinary old socks . As a young boy I became a huge

fan of the 1966 Baltimore Orioles and my favorite

player Frank Robinson . Anchoring 3B was future

Hall of Famer and the most beloved Oriole ever ,

Brooks Robinson . Finally there was a 3rd future

Hall of Famer , 20 year old Jim “ Cakes “ Palmer, who

showed up big in his World Series win. In addition,

larger than life Boog “BQ” Powell hit a ton of HR’s

playing 1B. At SS was veteran Luis Aparicio one of the

best Shortstops for over 10 years and a very dangerous

baserunner ( SB Leader ) .

The O’s won the American League Championship

and were huge underdogs against the reigning Champs the LA Dodgers . Everyone ( but the O’s) knew it was

impossible to beat Sandy Koufax & Don Drysdale and

the great base thief , SS Maury Wills . The O’s shocked

everyone by sweeping the World Series 4-0 !!!

They would go on to play in an additional 3 more

World Series in 1969,1970 & 1971  !  Four World Series

in six years is almost unheard of  ! This is why I shout

out “O” when singing the National Anthem ! Go O’s !

Hello Michael - while I am not a sports fan, I can still appreciate the love for teams, players or cities/stadiums where games are held.  Your flashback moment of Baltimore Orioles famous names from the past were recognizable.  Continue to root for your team and proudly wear your socks.

Michael J. Perry  good for you, I have stopped watching sports, personally I do not like the outrageous money they make and then when they start preaching politics really rubs me wrong... used to be a Red Sox fan in case you are wondering... Endre

I have not paid too much attention to the Orioles, being that I am a Dbacks fan, but I do like their uniforms, haha.

The Orioles had a fabulous line up back in the late 60s and early 70s. Son many of those player went to the Hall of Fame, they should have their own wing in that building!

Gotta L⚾VE DEM "O'S". It's good to see the blossoming young talent they now have. While I'm a Nat's fan all the way I have a soft spot in my heart for the Boy's from Ballmer on the AL side.
