The Exile by Allan Folsom, a book review by Endre Barath, Jr. a Beverly Hills Realtor

Do you like to read?  Do you love a good page turner, a book that will make you want to stay up all night and hole up all weekend to read?  If yes, then have I got a book recommendation for you.  The Exile is my fourth book by author Allan Folsom; the first three I read were The Day After TomorrowThe Machiavelli Covenant and Day of Confession.   I loved all of them.  For no good reason, I went on a book sabbatical, just not having the motivation or the inclination to read.  With a houseful of books, this was not a good thing.  Thanks to my Active Rain friend and author,  Ricki Eichler McCallum , I got back to reading again with her two novels Snow Fire and Snow Fire Revenge and Justice.

Which brings me to my most recent read, The Exile. This story takes place in Los Angeles with rogue cops, and has an added global intrigue with the characters of an international assassin and a Russian baroness just to name a few.

If you do read this book, you may be inclined to do some Google research to see if the story was written as historical fiction or just great imaginative storytelling by the author. Needless to say, I am not giving any further details or revealing the plot line.  If you're intrigued and looking for a great read, I will just say ‘read the book’.

When I finished the book, I did some further research to see the latest book that Allan Folsom had written, and sadly I discovered that he passed away.  As I picked up my copy of The Exile again, I noticed that it was published ten years before his passing.  This made my autographed copy even more special.

Here's what other writers thought of The Exile:

“… More twists and turns than a strand of DNA…” by the author of the Exorcist, William Peter Blatty

“…Once you start The Exile, forget sleep, it’s fierce, complex suspense is fast as a 9mm slug and tight as a hangman’s noose…” Stephen Coonts (author of about 30 suspense books)

Fortunately, there are three more books out there by Allan Folsom that I've not yet read, and I'm looking forward to stopping by one of my favorite bookstores to get my copies.

To answer your question, NO, haha.  I do have a lot of books in my house though, perhaps one day I will become a more avid reader.

Hi Endre,
I do love a book with twists and turns but I'm not a fan of books that leave me unable to sleep.  I'm more of a "Cozy Mystery" genre girl.

Once we find an author we enjoy, at least for myself, we tend to lean in that direction for more reading.  In my younger days I would rent a motel room, with a new book, and not come out until it was done.  A complete escape for me.  Have not done that in a long long time.  I suspect I would get too antsy.  M

Endre I am not much of a reader, but my granddaughter is.  Maybe this will be a book she will read when she gets a little older.

Hi Endre- I love mysteries and thrillers. I Googled Allan Folsom and discovered that he was only 72 when he passed away.

Hi Endre',  Great review. I will definitely add this one to my reading list. It sounds like my kind of novel. :) I have been reading lots of books by Toby Neighbors lately. But I am also working on another book like Heart Calls. The trilogy for Snow Fire is coming up next after I get "Tickle Me With Love" finished. Some of mine are also going on Audible.
