Regional Home Sales January Of 2024

On February 22, 2024, National Association of Realtors® (NAR) reported that nationwide regional existing home sales in the Northeast same as 0.0% in January of 2024 to an annual rate 480,000 homes from December of 2023, but decreased 5.9% from January of 2023. The median price in the Northeast was $434,300 in January 2023, rose 10.1% from January of 2023.

Home sales in the Midwest higher 2.2% in January of 2024 to an annual rate 950,000 homes from December of 2023, but lower 3.1% from January of 2023. The median price in the Midwest was $271,100 in January of 2024, jumped 7.6% from January of 2023.

Home sales in the South gained 4.0% in January of 2024 to an annual rate 1,84 million homes from December of 2024, but dropped 1.6% from January of 2024. The median price in the South was $345,100 in January of 2024, increased 4.1% from January of 2023.

Home sales in the West grew 4.3% in January of 2024 to an annual rate 730,000 homes from December of 2023, and up 2.8% from January of 2023. The median price in the West was $572,100 in January of 2024, rose 6.3% from from January of 2023.

From these stats it appears that there is still affordable housing in the Midwest.
