Staging Stories…Dancing Around the Floor

Every home stager has stories to tell that make their projects interesting. One of my earliest vacant stagings was for brothers who were agents and investors.

They were redoing a property that was on a spacious lot on a quiet cul-de-sac street. They opted for staging the property at a time when home staging was still new to sellers and agents. The brothers had everything planned out and on schedule including making sure that their property was on the venue for the quarterly Parade of Homes Tour.

This view is from the loft. We weren't quite done yet...the rug was waiting to be placed.

You know what they say about the best laid plans!  They worked around the clock because of the Parade of Homes Tour and when we arrived to stage the property, not everything was complete. The Open House was in two days!

They were still laying the hardwood floors in the family room and completing other finishing touches.

Look at the right and you’ll see the workers finishing up the floors!

The movers brought in the furniture and we stepped over and around the workers laying the floor. While this was not the way we would have liked to "do our magic" we all know that being flexible and willing to adapt our keys to making it work!

In the end, the work and staging were completed in time for a successful debut in the Parade of Homes.

Hello Kathy - staging can help make the marketing of real estate seem a bit more complete.  But it's a process that can be filled with lots of different experiences.  Plus, lessons learned.  Often over and over.

Michael Jacobs I'm sure they would have liked it if we weren't there as well.  It could have been worse.

Dorie Dillard Austin TX it worked out and the brothers did a good job. We already had the furniture rental truck scheduled so we had to do what we could.

Jeffrey DiMuria 321.223.6253 Waves Realty Staging was a hard sell (at least in FL) back in 2007-2008.  Many had no clue what it was and some didn't want to invest in a consultation.

The best laid plans do work, especially at crunch time, Kathy. Many builders, stagers, designers and various contractors work right up to the last moment to create that WOW! factor. Being light on the feet and agile helps to avoid interrupting them!

Hi Kathy:

That was really down to the wire, wasn't it? I suspect not everyone would be as flexible as you were, although in this business that's what it takes, doesn't it. Glad it all worked out in the end to meet the deadline.
