Philadelphia Steals and Deals Beds in a Box Part 2

By
Real Estate Agent with HomeStarr Realty RS143922A

We have been shopping for a mattress in the big stores, and now we are looking online at Amazon and all the other Internet sites. Some Big Box stores even promise to remove your old mattress. The warranties are exceptional; some even let you try them for almost a year. Many of these Bed in a Box require you to install the mattress onto the bed. I may have gone for it if I was younger, but at my age, sorry, it's not happening.

I will say many of these Beds in a Box brands I saw in the big stores. I did have the opportunity to see them and try them out, which I was thankful for. Some of the brands were Purple and Nectar. Now, they might install the mattress for you. I did not ask. I was surprised to see how many Bed in a Box brands were available but were not shown as a Bed in a Box. They may be different models.

In part one, I mentioned I was the Princess and the Pea. I do not want a mattress that is tufted. The one that has the buttons. No matter how lofty it is, I can feel those buttons. My friend says oh really, you get a good mattress pad. It would not matter how many mattress pads there were; I would feel those buttons. Thankfully, there is no need to worry about it because they make many mattresses without these darn buttons.

None were my choice, but they may be yours. I found mine in Part 3

Below is a video for the top 10 Bed in a Box

Hannah with what mattresses cost these days, you have to take you time shopping and checkout everything.  You are going about it the right way, and I look forward to reading which one you picked.

George Souto, It is my dream mattress. I thought I had found it the first time, but when I returned, I was unhappy. Then, I was hypnotized. There was no doubt in my mind.

Joan- I think that mattresses are one of the hardest things anyone can buy.  I loved the separate feather bed topper we used to have.

Endre Barath, Jr.  Be prepared as the prices are alarming. I am spending way more than I intended to, but when you read Part 3, I think you will be as shocked as I was.

Hello Hannah - while some people enjoy the thrill of shopping, there are many who feel the pain of that process.   I am sure that must be especially true when it comes to a mattress purchase given the many (way too many, right?) choices.

Personally, I prefer doing it in-person, but it is nice to know there are alternatives "out there".  Your previous "Princess and the Pea" reference remains with me.  May the result bring a happily ever after conclusion too.  Hmm, am I remembering that fairy tale correctly?  Let me sleep on it.  🛌 Good luck.

Michael Jacobs,  what surprised me was there are mattresses for people of specific weights. People who share beds sleep on their backs, on their sides, on their stomachs, and so on and so on.

I am with you. I prefer to do it in person. as a mattress is very personal. Like looking for a house, you need to get that feeling.

I am the same way with buttons on a mattress, I would feel them no matter what and I have always wondered why they even do that, haha.

Jeff Dowler, CRS, it is over. Now I need to get the bedroom ready. I want to move some things around and give it a good cleaning. I have some boxes stored under the bed. I will have to see if they are keepers or donations.

Hannah Williams - How weird was that to buy a mattress for a year to try it out for that length of time. I couldn't do that, no matter how good it sounded.

As for buttons - I can't stand buttons. I am very aware of the hard bumps in bed, and they are very uncomfortable for me too.

I wish my mom was alive. She didn't trust mattress sellers. If she was still alive, would ask her why? Never thought about asking her, but I knew it was something she was strongly against buying a mattress from a stranger from a strange company. She was raised as a child during the Great Depression. It was probably depressing.

Looking forward to Part 3!

Patricia Feager, MBA, CRS, GRI,MRP  My Mother was raised in an orphanage. She didn't trust anyone. She did have a fantastic feel for people. She did live through the depression. Every time the news announced a problem with banking, she wanted to take her money out of the bank.

Hannah Williams - My mom didn't trust people either and she had personal family stories about relatives that lost their money when the banks closed. The bank she referred to was in walking distance to where we lived and the only bank where locals banked. There were many misfortunes during the Great Depression and reasons not to trust.

I bought a new mattress a couple years ago.  It is a Serta Perfect Sleeper.  I should have done a little more research.  What happens is it apparently has gel that conforms to your body, etc.  However, I find when I move myself to the other side of the bed, I am placed on top of little hills that have accumulated from my prior position in the bed.  I'm not fond of that.

Myrl Jeffcoat  : Is that the mattress with sheep as the logo? I think that is the last mattress I purchased. Was good in the beginning but was not happy after a few years.

It is astounding how many "bed in a box" there are in the marketplace. I recently ordered one for times that I visit family in Haddonfield (near you)!!! It has infra red elements for blood flow!!!!

Paddy Deighan MBA JD PhD,   Did you leave the bed at their home? Yes, I have not heard about that and have done extensive research.  There are so many to choose from
