That Thing About Quotes. . .
Super Tuesday Thoughts
to Ponder and to Question. . .
Today in California our election primary will be held. Super Tuesday, as it is known, will be held for more than a baker's dozen other states too. Campaigning can certainly conjure up an abundance of words. And a lot of dough, too. I digress. . .
However, today I’m thinking of words of wisdom that put perspective into place for me. Not political nor talk of religion, sex or money, my thoughts go to the topic of quotes. There are a number of ActiveRain members who share them. And in many sorts of ways.
Maybe he was or wasn’t the first, but I remember reading an inspirational post by Paul S. Henderson, REALTOR®, CRS who added the disclaimer-of-sorts attributed to with his selection a while back.
A lot of things start me thinking. Words of wisdom. Words not-so-wise, too. Attributed words as well as those unrelated can cause pondering to begin. Where did I hear that? See that? Previously experience it. And in what context? Yikes.
There is a quote, at least part of it, that has been rumbling around in my mind for a while:
My philosophy is
what people say about me is none of my business.
I am who I am and what I do.
Expect nothing and accept everything.
Attributed to Jodie Foster
It intrigued me. Additional investigation showed me part of it was from another quote from someone else. I can’t recall the entirety of it. And that's not the point. With today's selected quote in mind, I am thinking of attribution, interpretation and all sorts of other things. And that’s what quotes continue to do for me. Questioning. Wondering. Still pondering.
