Holy Holes Batman!

Rodents gnaw and gnawing creates holes.

If/when I find evidence of a mouse in the house the first thing I do is to get out the mouse traps. I usually have my mouse in 24 hours. Besides the traps I also/always have glue boards through out the basement to catch creeping things. I hate to catch a rodent in a glue trap as I think it would be a horrible way to die BUT I am always glad to see the insects that a glue trap has captured.

Back to rodent woes.

Once you have eliminated the problem you need to close the access they created in your home. I found a great video on you tube. Here it is. Spoiler alert, the one method they tested that failed the test is expanding foam.

I have attempted to use expanding foam to keep bees out of buildings and like the mice it only slowed them down as they ate through it.

If I lost you on the mention of glue boards I had not heard of them either until one of my listings had placed one by a glass sliding door of the house. It was gross with all the ugly spiders and multi-legged insects stuck to it BUT I thought "I don't want those things in my home either" so I have purchased them ever since.

Yet another reason why I am not much of a pet guy, haha.  I don't want holes being chewed in any of my stuff, haha.

I only tried a glue board once. We put it in the garage and had the garage door open for part of the day. A bird flew in and somehow got stuck in the glue board. We did get him off but not without him losing feathers. I thought it was such a terrible way for anything to die so that went directly into the garbage and we never did that again.

Gnawing pets can turn into pests Brian England . Rodents are very good escape artists  and when they do escape they are rarely found.

That would be horrible Kat Palmiotti as I too love birds. As I mentioned earlier I am sad when a mouse gets in one too.

Good morning Bob,

Looks like you have fund an effective way to deal with rodents and creepy insects. In Texas it is wise to have a Pest control Company on a quarterly maintenance and its the end to creepy insects and rodents. I've had the same company for 20+ years!

I would do the same as you if we had termites here in North Dakota Dorie Dillard Austin TX but being we don't I spray "Home Defense" twice a year and use my glue traps to keep rodents and insects under control.

Bob "RealMan" Timm  gratefully we do not have issues like that, maybe the rodents know we have two cats and do not want to try their luck.... years ago when we lived in Century City I did get a trap underneath our kitchen stove and it took care of the intruder...Endre

If I were a mouse I don't think I'd try your home with two cats either Endre Barath, Jr. Now if every cat was like Garfield the comic I'd have no fear.

Thanks Doug Dawes . I was hesitant to use it due to it's length but I thought it was well presented so I did.
