More Sustainable Living Tips - Conserving Energy:

Unplug and Power Down

Many electronic devices continue to consume energy even when they're turned off or in standby mode. Get into the habit of unplugging chargers, appliances, and electronics when they're not in use, or use power strips to easily cut off power to multiple devices at once.

Switch to Energy-Efficient Appliances

When it's time to upgrade your appliances, opt for energy-efficient models that bear the ENERGY STAR label. These appliances use less energy, which translates to lower utility bills and reduced environmental impact.

Maximize Natural Light

Take advantage of natural light during the day by opening curtains and blinds to let sunlight in. Not only does this reduce the need for artificial lighting, but it also helps regulate your circadian rhythm and improve mood.

Upgrade Lighting

Replace traditional incandescent light bulbs with energy-efficient LED or CFL bulbs. Although they may cost more upfront, these bulbs last longer and consume less energy, saving you money in the long run.

Adjust Thermostat Settings

In both summer and winter, adjust your thermostat to conserve energy. Lower the temperature in winter and raise it in summer by a few degrees to reduce heating and cooling costs.

Joyce Marsh - these are all excellent tips. I make a habit of unplugging unnecessary electronics when I leave the house, especially if I am gone for days. For safety and financial sake, I never want to experience another house fire again. If there is faulty wiring, electricity burns through the walls when nobody is there or when your sleeping.

These are good ideas - I'm bad at the first one and should pay more attention to what is or is not plugged in!
