Appreciating the Colors of Spring, Southern Style

Out Connecticut weather is a typical Nee England Mode with a heavy rainfall yesterday which was snow in the northwest part of the state.

Having spent time in the south earlier in the month we at least have the colorful flowers still in our minds.

The entry way of or resort had a colorful array of rhododendrons, and if not for the leaves, I would not have recognized the plants as they were landscaped as small trees and not the typical bushes, we have in the north.

The flowers were so large and the petals so perfect in shape that they could have easily been mistaken as plastic.

It will be a while before we see anything like this in CT, especially with temps still getting below freezing at night.

I will have to be content with looking at the photos we took.

Hello Ed - I believe traveling can extend our boundaries beyond the places where we live.  It seems it has the ability to open up possibilities and expand our thoughts.  Hopefully, being home also brings a familiar sense of comfort as well as happiness. Inside and out.

Good morning Ed. Spring has not sprung in Chicago yet as temps are hovering in the 30's. Thanks for sharing photos of the potential once spring actually arrives. Enjoy your day.

Ed Silva, 203-206-0754 - So glad to hear you got a sneak preview of flowers blooming while you were vacationing in the south. It won't be long for you to have the beauty of flowers in your area. In the meantime, a nice bouquet of fresh flowers is what I do before the flowers bloom in Flower Mound.

Enjoy your day.

Michael Jacobs   The travels are always fun and offer new sights. Being back offers the comforts of just hone, but I always miss the warmer weather especially when we come back to bitter cold with wind.

Michael Elliott   As we are a bit further north and about a 3 1/2 hour drive from you, it's 31 at the time I am writing the response so I would guess maybe 5-6 degrees cooler.

Wayne Martin   Our temps are very similar to yours, but we don't get the lake effect winds that your area gets.

Kat Palmiotti   I paused as we were walking along this path to consider if they were real as some of the flowers just looked too perfect.

Patricia Feager, MBA, CRS, GRI,MRP   Once we got home, we had the consolation of my wife's flower room and all the colors there. Her Cactus was in bloom as well.

Oh, Ed Silva, 203-206-0754, I would love to have a sunroom like this! Your plants are gorgeous! They look so healthy, and I love to see the leaves pointing towards the sun. A good and healthy room like this, is where I would spend most of my early mornings.

Thank you for sharing!

Brian England   I love this time of year for the re-birth of all the flowers and flowering plants we have in the yard.

Bill Salvatore - East Valley   It will get prettier over the course of the next few weeks, and the eyes will tear from the pollen as well.

Ed, your photos of the beautiful flowers are great, and it will be a while before we see some color too.  I noticed yesterday we are getting SOME leaves on some of the trees.  YAY, spring is coming.  Your sunroom is really nice!

Lovely photos, Ed. And, yes, Spring certainly makes itself known in different parts of the Country at different times. In fact, it seems like Spring never left us this year.
