 Solar Eclipse eclipse on Monday, April 8, starting at 2 pm.  Don't forget to wear solar viewing protection if you want to watch it.

Did you know here in Massachusetts and RI  we will be able to see 90% of the total eclipse

Don't have eclipse glasses? Visit the Earth & Space Open Day in the River Center on April 6,and be entered to win a solar viewing panel.
It is also your chance to learn more about solar eclipses and the connection between climate, animals, earth and space. There will be exhibits and hands-on activities for the whole family!  
 Since Massachusetts and Rhode Island do not fall in the direct path of the solar eclipse, our experience will be a partial eclipse.A partial solar eclipse happens when the Sun, Moon, and Earth are not exactly aligned and the Sun appears to have a dark shadow on a small part of its surface.While our area is not in the direct path, make no mistake. The solar eclipse of 2024 will still offer an incredible spectacle in the afternoon sky.Expect the partial eclipse to hit Rhode Island and Massachusetts at 3:29 pm, according to National Eclipse.

***Special Open Days During School Vacation
Thursday, April 18 and Friday, April 19 10am - 2pm at the River Center

During these special open days we will celebrate Earth Day and Citizen Science Month(April). There will be hands-on activities, crafts, exhibits on local animals, and how you can help them. As always, the digital sand table and high powered microscope will be available. Bring an item from home to see it magnified! Learn how you can help scientists right from home too.
