Just the latest news to relay from the ActiveRain Development team in response to community requests for site improvements.  Deployment was implemented Friday evening.

  1. The invite points calculation has been reinstated, and points crediting will run the first day of each month for the prior month's activities.  Starting May 1st, expect to see invite points appear on your account if you have invitees connected to your profile name.

  2. No points will be awarded for commenting on your own posts, whether as a separate comment or as a response to another member's comment on your own post.   The intent is to encourage clearer conversations in the comment threads.  No other changes have been made to the points system.

That is all, you may now return to your regularly scheduled posting, commenting and questioning.

Neither of these changes are going to impact me.  However, it will have an impact on some members point totals, especially for no points for commenting on your own blog.

Currently the gift shop is still unstaffed due to West Coast minimum wage requirements exceeding the budget for staffing.

Well, my take is that the point change on commenting on your own posts will hurt new members.... people like me who have been on the first page of AR for longer than I care to remember is meaningless... on the other hand you are hurting the new members who are trying to interact on their post.... well, let's see what Brad Andersohn  thoughts are on this subject?:)Endre

There is absolutely nothing about this that prevents new members from interacting on their own posts.  If the value of 6 points for leaving a comment on their own post exceeds the value of developing a relationship and providing an easier to read and engage comment thread by commenting directly as a sub comment, then we have bigger issues than 6 points.

I think anything new takes time to adjust. It can always be changed again, but I like what the AR staff shared, makes a really good point. My relationships here with people like you mean a whole lot more to me than those 6 points. 

I say run with it and see what happens. Time and thought went into this I’m sure, so let’s play it by ear and measure the results later.

These are good updates!  Is the sub-commenting feature fully working nowadays?  I haven't really used it much since notifications aren't sent unless tagging is used.

I believe I have lost over 20,000 points over the last three years , when invite points were discontinued for people you had recruited on a monthly basis .

I'm sorry, Michael J. Perry, but we have no plans to replace missing points retroactively.  Everyone lost-out on invite points equally.

Bob "RealMan" Timm , If you sort your points events by Invite, you can see if someone has accepted an invite.  Unfortunately, I think you have to work through the Points section month by month to check for results.

I think that the updates are improvements. I have always thought that awarding points for commenting on one's own post was inappropriate.
