Total Eclipse of the Sun 2.08.24

The celestial bodies offer up images on a somewhat frequent basis, which is when the path of one celestial body is blocked by another and the image or shadow falls on the last of the 3.

It can be in the form of a lunar eclipse, when the earth takes a path between the sun and the moon, and the earth's shadow is shown on the lunar (moon's ) surface, or as happened this past Monday, a solar eclipse in which the moon aligns in the path between the earth and the moon and blocks the sun from the earth.

There are numerous eclipses annually that fall all over our planet, and on occasion they are viewable from land.

This latest eclipse was viewable in a swath across our country and passed though the Northeast. It began around 2:44 and lasted maybe a total of 15 minutes.

Unfortunately, we had heavy cloud cover in Prospect so a good portion of it was not seen.

Further north, however, it wasn't the case, and we received photos late last night, of the eclipse as viewed in Springfield, MA from a family friend.

Total Eclipse of the Sun 2.08.24The first photo was taken by a professional in the area and the second was taken by our friend.

I remember that day
When they all looked away
From a total eclipse of the sun

We will have another viewable within our area in 20 years, but for now, I am content with what we saw and what was sent to us.

Unsure about AZ as I truly didn't care.  I can imagine early man being scared of such a natural phenomenon.

It was a phenomenon and another one won't be viewed until 2044! It was exciting to see and a great way for people to come together with a positive attitude  for a change! Our country has become so divided it was good to see everyone so excited about the watch and come together to enjoy something so special! We need more of this!

That's a bummer that the cloud cover prevented you from having the experience you had hoped to have.  I didn't worry about trying to see it myself and felt I would rely upon all of the photos and such posted on social media, haha.

Hi Ed:

Thanks for the photos - it's been fun to see them in your post and online. I missed our partial eclipse since I was indoors in a class at my gym but can't say I am particularly bothered by missing it.
