Leaving Los Angeles? Looking for a Simpler Place and Time? (Photo: Lowerider Stocksnap, Pixabay)

LA Proved Too Much For The Man...Took the Midnight Train To Georgia!

(But, now for the rest of the story... "the Man" Stopped in Arizona on the way and LOVED IT)!

Midnight Train to Georgia, was that great old song title from 1973, by Gladys Knight and the Pips with the following lyrics that still hold true today in 2024, 50+ years later:

L.A. proved too much for the man
(Too much for the man)
(He couldn't make it)
So, he's leaving the life he's come to know, oh
He said he's going back to find
(Going back to find)
What's left of his world
The world he left behind
Not so long ago
He's leaving (leaving)
On that midnight train to Georgia (leaving on a midnight train)
Hmm, yeah
Said he's going back (going back to find)
To a simpler place and time (and when he takes that ride)
Oh yes, he is (guess who's gonna sit right by his side)

And I'll be with him (I know you will)
On that midnight train to Georgia
(Leaving on a midnight train to Georgia)
I'd rather live in his world (live in his world)
Than live without him in mine (world, world)
(It's his, his and hers alone)

Now, I know these days, LA is proving too much for many people, they strive for a simpler, safer, reasonable and family oriented type of time and place. If that is YOU in Califonria today, you do not need to take that Midnight Train to Georgia, hey you can get off in the first state you come to in the great desert southwest in Sunny Arizona! I can help you find a great place to live in and MUCH less expensive than in LA!

Sunny weather and golf and your next home await you in the Phoenix metro or Scottsdale, Arizona

Good morning Jeff. You nailed it about people leaving Los Angeles. Wonder how many make a pit stop on their journey to their next stop and just stay put. Maybe Arizona, maybe Texas or maybe Florida. Then again there are other pit stops along the way. Enjoy your day.

Thank you Joyce Marsh and you are correct about California residents leaving to the 3 most popular exodus states of Arizona, Texas and Florida.

Further, per Realtor.com, "New York and California account for seven of the 10 fastest-contracting counties in the U.S. in 2023. And Cook County, IL—the heart of Chicago’s metro area—ranks No. 2.

The movement toward suburban and semirural counties highlights a realignment of what U.S. home shoppers are looking for: more space, affordability, and improved quality of life away from dense urban centers. This shift, amplified since the pandemic’s onset, shows up strong in the latest Census Bureau data, with significant contractions in major urban hubs.

Los Angeles County leads the exodus, shedding over 100,000 residents, with Chicago’s Cook County, IL, and some of New York City’s boroughs—Brooklyn, the Bronx, and Queens—also seeing notable declines."

Well here in Arizona we are ready for you folks that prefer sunshine and warmth.

Excellent observation Wayne Martin. US Migration patterns are clearly showing Americans are moving in large numbers to the Southern most warm states of Arizona, Florida and Texas.

This is seemingly strange with the apparent or supposed concern over global warming that one would think the warm state residents would be moving away from the equator to cooler states and not the migration pattern of people actually moving towards the equator and more warmth.

We are seeing that here in Arizona as Americans as well as those from foreign countries are flocking to the Grand Canyon state that historically has the highest temperature average in the US. Arizona does have wide open spaces and sunshine. Americans love that.

Realtor.com reported by Evan Wyloge on March 25, 2024 that, "Part of the American dream is the promise that everyone can choose where they want to live. Whether that means a move across town or a continent-spanning relocation, we’re all free to pack up and head to where our hearts lead us.

And it might come as no surprise that recently, Americans have been drawn south—beckoned by warmer weather, bigger homes, and more space, according to new U.S. Census Bureau data that shows population trends in counties across the country from July 1, 2022, to July 1, 2023."
