I like to start each day with puzzles and games. Two of my neighbors join me inartificial intelligence playing Brain Candy and the various trivia questions that pop into my inbox during the day. One of them also plays "Connections" with me, but I'm all alone in doing the "free part" of the New York Times Spelling Bee. (You can get just so far - if you want to finish the game you have to subscribe to NYT, and I'm not doing that.)

So anyway, the spelling bee consists of giving you 7 letters with which to make as many (4 or more letter) words as possible - all with one specific letter included. Sometimes it's fairly easy and other times it is almost impossible. 

A couple of mornings ago I was having a terrible time coming up with words, so I decided to play with Chat GPT. I asked it to solve the puzzle. 

But guess what? I managed to come up with 8 words, and Chat GPT only got 5! 

So there!

I beat you AI!

Whoo hoo! OK, so I have to admit, I pay the NY Times so I can do the puzzles. I love most of them and I start my morning with them as well. As you said, some days the spelling bee is very hard and somedays not. I love when it tells me I'm a genius. Haha. Which does NOT always happen! They have a new puzzle, strands. Have you tried that one?

Good morning Kat Palmiotti. Yes, I did try that. Can't say I liked it much. Do you? 

Right now I'm halfway through Connections and I'm stuck with only one error left! Some days it's easy, but not for me today.

Well look at you! You beat AI!! I play Wordle every morning and 6 of my other friends and family do too! Sometime when I have more time I'm going to try Spelling Bee and I've never heard of the new puzzle strands!

Dorie Dillard Austin TX - I also like Blossom, from Merriam-Webster. On that one you have 7 letters, but only 12 words to gather, so you try to get the longest, best words. I like Connections because it makes you stretch your imagination.
