I have not re-posted in a while and this list from Margaret Rome Baltimore 410-530-2400 seemed to be worthwhile to get back into showcases great blogs. It should be FEATURED. I would add a #13 Don't share bad news until you have a solution to fix it or detrmine there is no solution at all. I never like to make my clients twist and they just blow up your phone until solutions and answers are available. Please leave your comments for Margaret on her original post.

Twelve observations related to real estate.

Similar to flying, it is not unusual to encounter a few bumps when buying and selling. This real estate turbulence happens anytime between signing up with a listing agent and the final settlement day.

I read a list of items that a pilot won't always tell you, and this triggered a list of things that agents may not want you to know about the real estate transaction.

  Turbulence

I have encountered all of them and want to share my observations.

Each could be a book chapter or a stand-alone blog post.

1. Houses sell houses, and people foul up deals.

2. Avoid settlements early in the morning on Mondays or late  Fridays.

3. Don't turn the keys over until the settlement is funded.

4. Don't let a seller know a contract is coming in... Always wait until the offer is in hand.

5. If a buyer at your listing loves everything... they usually cannot afford the house.

6. If a buyer in your listing complains about the room sizes, price, carpet color, etc., they may be negotiating.

7. Doing a home inspection is like having a colonoscopy and a root canal simultaneously...without anesthesia.

8. Open Houses don't necessarily sell your house., but they may be an effective way to generate new business.

9. Buyers don't care how much the seller needs from the sale.

10. Sellers might use security systems and listening or recording devices while you are viewing their homes.

11. Letting the buyer and seller meet to work things out is not always bad.

12. Don't be offended by a low offer. Be offended by all the others who saw your house and did not make an offer.
