Yesterday Candice A. Donofrio posted a question about the AI Real Estate agent JOY. I had one of those "in the middle of the night thoughts" that I wanted to share with you.

Back in the 70's there was a very creative musician/song writer who had a couple of monstrous hits.  I am talking about Harry Nilsson. One non-hit but hilarious song was called JOY.

Best line:

Joy to the world was a beautiful girl
But to me Joy meant only sorrow.

The other day, I met a girl named Joy
She said "Come here, I'm gonna make you my Joy Boy"
Well, things went good, things went bad
Now, every time I think of Joy it makes me sad
It makes me sad
The other day, I met a girl named Joy
She said "Roy, I'm gonna make you my Joy Boy"
Well, she took me for a ride, sort of a joyride
Now, every time I think of Joy I get all weird inside
Ah, Joy to the world was a beautiful girl
But to me Joy meant only sorrow
Now, if you haven't got an answer, then you haven't got a question
And if you never had a question, then you'd never have a problem
But if you never had a problem, well everyone would be happy
But if everyone was happy, there'd never be a love song
Joy was a beautiful girl
But to me Joy meant only sorrow
The other day, I met a girl named Joy
She said "Come here, I'm gonna make you feel all clammy inside"
Things went good and things went bad
Things went good and went bad
Good, bad, good, bad, good, bad
Joy to the world was a beautiful girl
But to me Joy meant only sorrow
Ah, Joy to the world was a beautiful girl
But to me Joy meant only sorrow
Joy, I know you're out there
I want you to turn on the radio
And listen to my song.

If you are interested in hearing what made him a huge hit (and song writer) to me this HAUNTING song is one of the best R&R songs ever written. Candice A. Donofrio and Thomas J. Nelson, REALTOR ® e-Pro CRS RCS-D Vets please weigh in.

It's hard for me to pick out the greatest Nilsson song but Jump Into The Fire is an example of R&R greatness. It's a seven plus minute song that at the halfway point breaks into a wonderful drum solo, maybe the best in R&R history.

Candice A. Donofrio and I are in agreement, I love, love, love ...
Jump Into The Fire

But Bob "RealMan" Timm you did pick a great line from that song Joy.

Harry was a poet and a rocker! I also like Gotta Get Up as a great commentry on life, kinda like The Beatles "When I'm 64".

Thomas J. Nelson, REALTOR ® e-Pro CRS RCS-D Vets I couldn't mention Harry without mentioning and posting his song Jump Into The Fire.

I had not thought about that song Joy for a long time. I usually play it when I'm around Country Western fans and I tell them this is the BEST CW song ever.

Nina Hollander, Broker I think his biggest commercial success was "Coconut". You know, "put the lime in the coconut"?

I think this one might have been a little more popular on the hit parade.  https://youtu.be/G-ZDKirjQgM?si=LioKMqRAOgvyFpt9

Looking up Harry on YouTube brought back a lot of memories for me as well John Juarez . I had four of his albums including the one he did with John Lennon.

I had not ever heard that song, "Joy," before.  It's a good tune, Bob.

I always thought it was a hoot Myrl Jeffcoat as a good spoof of a sad country western song.

Regretfully there are a lot of people like that Endre Barath, Jr. It's good to get away from them, sit and relax, and have a glass of wine. 😉
