What If I (or Someone Else) Already Wrote About It?

For many bloggers (myself included) one of the hardest tasks is choosing a topic.

Once you decide on what to write about, you think “But someone else already wrote about it.” Or "didn't I already write about that?"

There are No Limits on how many times a topic can be covered, even by the same person.

Consider this…

~Readers are interested in your spin or opinion on a topic

Readers want your perspective or point of view on a topic.  If writing about Open Houses, share why you think they will or will not work. Share with your readers how you price a listing.

~Don’t take offense, but not everyone has read all your posts.

There are members I follow but don’t always get to read every single post they’ve written.

~No one can remember every post you’ve ever written.

Heck…I can’t even remember the posts I’ve written.

~Things change…your own perspective or opinion changes over time

Write the new post on with “today’s” view on the topic.

Frequently, I’ll revisit an older post. That’s where I’ll find a topic. But don’t just copy and paste it. Take the general concept and rewrite it in your 2024 voice.

Happy Blogging

This is one of the reasons that I began a different series for each day, so I would know what I needed to blog about, haha.

Brian England I do that as well, but I like to mix it up a bit. Some days though, it's harder to decide what to blog about.

Good morning Kathy. Before I started the trivia questions daily I used to post an affirmation or quote and comment. Funny how looking back and reading some I have changed my view. Blog on! Enjoy your day.

Wayne Martin when you consider how long we've been here, our views do change and even though we may not see things differently, we can add additional layers to it.

As usual excellent advice on blogging! I like Lawrence "Larry" & Sheila Agranoff. Cell: 631-805-4400 have a routine down and try and stay focused on it. I usually don't have problems coming up with a topic but your advice to go back to older posts is excellent!

Hi Kathy:

Posts written by others can be a terrific source of ideas for new posts, from YOUR perspective. And our old posts that can be updated may serve us well in current writing, too, with perhaps a new spin or viewpoint, as you suggest.

Call a Marana neighbor, I'm THERE!

This makes me think back to 2010 when I was lurking and contemplating writing a blog.  Everyone seemed so knowledgeable.  Then, someone called me with an introductory offer from Activerain and I thought...well I'll just write like I'm talking to my clients, friends, family.  I don't have to be a brainiac, or an expert.  Through time I've enjoyed the different voices of so many of the participants - the trick is not to spend all day online!
