Continuing education is crucial in the real estate field for several reasons. As a designated broker for the Golden Girls with SW Desert Homes, I have a duty not only to my own clients and sphere, but to the agents that work under our banner. Every two years, I am required by the state of Arizona to take 30 hours of continuing education, and a Code of Ethics class every 3 years marking me as a REALTOR® belonging to the National Association of Realtors®. Then there are the classes, webinars and zoom meetings one attends just to stay current in the local market.

Real estate regulations and laws are constantly evolving. Continuing education ensures that we stay informed about any changes or updates in laws, regulations, and industry practices. For instance, you may have read of upcoming changes regarding Brokers representing buyers.  (Commission and our MLS boards, Buyer-Broker Agreements) We do not have final confirmation on the required changes as of this date, but we must be able to confidently talk with the public to inform them of what we DO know at this time. 

The real estate market is dynamic and subject to change. It’s important to understand market trends, economic factors, and consumer behavior in order to provide current information to our clients and customers.

Continuing education programs often cover new trends, technologies, and best practices in the real estate industry. By participating in these programs, we can enhance our **fiduciary duty to provide the best service possible to our clients. (**obedience, loyalty, disclosure, confidentiality, accounting, and reasonable care)

Overall, continuing education is essential in order to stay informed, improve our skills, adapt to market changes, and update our professional credentials. It ultimately contributes to the professionalism essential in serving our clients' needs. Make sure you talk with your real estate agent about their educational goals and experience.

Wow, Cara Marcelle Mancuso   30 hours is a lot!   We can usually knock ours out here in New Jersey in 7 hours.

Amazing the difference between states!  9 of the hours is for brokers, and I wish that they updated the broker choices with items that help our better serve our agents!!

Good morning Cara Marcelle Mancuso ,

Continuing education is so important for us in the industry. The education programs often cover new trends, technologies, and best practices in the real estate industry. We also have many contract courses that are mandatory to take. It's also mandatory we take Legal and Ethics for every license renewal. I like to take the courses and in person, not on line. It's always good to have input from other agents in the class.

Cara, I get and appreciate the education to your team and everyone, my take is we have about 45 hrs or more continuing education here in CA but all that is meaningless. Ethics come from within, I have it an I am honorable, I met a few in my 29 years and wondered how they passed the education.... well test can be passed but principles need to be internal. I turned down a listing that I did not trust the seller and we are talking in the neighborhood of $30million listing...Endre

You have some very strong principles, Endre Barath, Jr.  I knew California had more requirements than many states, and yes, ethics should drive all of our actions.  I wish code of ethics was a requirement in MOST professions, truly.  Thanks for sharing Endre.

Continuing education is vital for any professional, I wouldn't want to hire someone who doesn't know what is current, haha.

My mother used to watch every single news station, and subscribed to a few magazines, just to be up on current events from several viewpoints.  Of course, she didn't have to work, so that helps!  Thanks for your comment, Brian England

This is good information to share. I have attended hundreds of the CE classes.

Since I have a law license as well as a brokers license, that doubled the requirements.
