Today, I read an article telling buyers that they should fire their Real Estate agent if they own a computer. Usually, when I read something like this, my blood pressure would increase. I would get upset and feel like I had to call someone and vent. Instead, I laughed. I thought about all the for-sale owners there were and how many ended up listing their homes with an agent. Statistics show that 97% of for-sale by owners list their house with an agent. There was a time when I did very well working primarily with for sale by owners.
They did not feel they needed to pay an agent to help them sell a house. Surprise, surprise, it was not as easy as they thought. Especially as time went by they had many lookers but not any buyers under contract.
Therefore I will sit back and not stress about our profession. We work hard for our money. We answer our phones all hours of the day and night. We understand how stressful everyone is and weather the storms and keep everyone calm.
Because it is one of the largest investments most people make in their lifetime and they are worried and scared. We know that, and we are there to let them know everything is going to be alright. Making sure everything is perfect because that is what we do. That is my job, and I take it very seriously. I want everything to be perfect. When you sit down at closing waiting for your new house keys or to give your buyer the old keys, you can have a SIGH of Relief that everything is fine.
This way, you too will laugh when you read the article I read that if you own a computer, you can fire your Real Estate Agent as you are intelligent enough to know buying and selling a house is more than just looking for a house. There is much more involved in the transaction than choosing one. You must be able to get to the closing table and complete the transaction.
