The Numbers Are In! Do Buyers and Sellers use Real Estate Agents?

Real Estate Agent with Coldwell Banker Realty ~ 512.750.6899

Many ask the question, do home sellers and home buyers really use real estate agents? Well the numbers are in!

The overwhelming majority of home buyers and sellers choose to work with a real estate agent. Why is that? Real estate agents help consumers successfully navigate one of life’s most expensive and impactful transactions—providing invaluable advocacy, support, and expertise.

Sellers need an agent who can market their property to the widest range of buyers available and work tireless in their best interest. A buyer broker is needed for success in a transaction with their fiduciary responsibility aligned with the buyer. Fair Housing is important and both sides need representation to be in compliance for a home purchase transaction.

Prioritizing my client’s needs is my utmost commitment. Whether you're considering a move now or in the future, I'm here to offer my local expertise and years of experience to tailor a plan to your unique goals. Let's start a conversation about your aspirations for 2024 and beyond, and together, we'll navigate the journey ahead.

Hi, Dorie!  So there is probably a good reason most of them use us - buying and selling a piece of property is pretty complicate. And when things go sideways, someone who understands how to mitigate the consequences is worth the brokerage fee! And when things go smoothly?  Well, that too! Without us it might not have been so easy for the buyer or seller!

Some folks decide to go it alone and that may create a higher cost than working with a professional real estate agent. Good post to reaffirm why it is important to work with a real estate agent.

I strongly encourage all to use a real estate agent who has time to help you. Each transaction has so many complex and moving parts that are not seen by the public eye...or media.  Thank you for sharing!

Hello Dorie and interesting that both are 89%, I figure the numbers would be closer to 95% on both sides.

I wish we could figure out if the other 11% is saving money, or they are the flippers that are buying under market or?

Hi Dorie- this is proof that sellers and buyers are choosing to work with agents. This is probably the most expensive transaction anyone will make, so why would you try to go through it on your own.

Dorie that is a high percentage, but it should be 100%.  Anyone who purchases or sells a home without hiring a Realtor is very foolish in my opinion.

And it's a good thing! Homebuyers and sellers will be more anxious than ever if they don't use an agent.

I really believe this is the right time to end Dual Agency and watered down services.

clearly an Attorney only represents One Party , they are seen as crucial and knowledgeable and their skill set is only available to one side of the lawsuit.
After the NAR Lawsuit, Consumers will probably attempt to reduce the Amount of Compensation they are willing to pay . Clearly to maintain Top Dollar a Buyer Agent should be demonstrating that their only concern is the Buyer and getting them the Most Favorable outcome ( possibly at the Sellers expense)

Dorie, this is great information to share with those thinking we aren't worth the fees we charge. I can't even begin to list each of the many, many things we do for each transaction that when left to do it on their own, buyers and sellers would have ZERO clue about most of them.

Great post!
