Throwback Thursday  A Special Trip to Niagara Falls

I am still reeling from the Zoom Call this past week presented by Active Brad Andersohn

It was high energy and well in keeping with the Challenge for April was to reconnect with some of the members that were once so visible and appreciated on the blog rolls.

I did reach out to Dagny Eason  and if not for an inspection she had said she was going to attend the last Zoom call of the month and would have enjoyed seeing Brad again.

I started to think back to some of the vacations e have taken over the years and was especially liking the memories I had of Niagara Falls back in 2011. It was special for a few reasons. A trip away for a few days with my wife, Cauna, and for the special day we spent appreciating the falls wit ActiveRain members Al & Peggy Cunningham, Brokers .

They were special people then and I am sure they are today although I am embarrassed to say I did not reach out to them in April but will remedy that soon.

They had taken the drive over from the Toronto area to visit and we may well have been the first ActiveRainers we both met outside from a Raincamp. An impromptu Meet-up.

Aside from enjoying the company, we did also spend some time looking at the falls, mostly from the Canadian side, in St Catherine's, Ontario.

Getting to meet fellow Rainers is always special and we exchanged a lot of laughs all day.

We also took the time to talk about some of the common people we follow and were fortunate to get a photo with another then very well-known Rainer, Craig Rutman who somehow had a full-scale model of him in the Ripley's museum there.

Somehow they failed to get the character fitted in that special sweater he awarded to so many Rainers.

Getting the platform back to some of the energy it once had is a mission being attempted by a few members here, and it would bode well as the SEO with that activity would increase for all as well.

This was a great post Ed! I really enjoyed reading and I too would love to see and hear from Dagny, Craig, Al and Peggy. Such amazing people and I miss them as well. I’ve never been to Niagara Falls, I’m adding it to my bucket 🪣 list today!

Thank you for being a key member and player who has stayed and worked so hard to keep ActiveRain alive! You are loved and appreciated my friend. 🙏

Brad Andersohn   Thank you for the kind words.  This place is special not only for the knowledge but also as a very special social media site.

The Falls are beautiful and if viewed from the Canadian side at night they are exceptional.

Hello Ed and great pictures of you all.  I was in Buffalo, N.Y. for 6 months in 1980 and only when to the falls twice.  Love the Canada side better.

Will Hamm   The falls actually face the Canadian side with a better perspective than they do from the US side.

Ed, seeing your post, I had to post on the Iguazu Falls in Brazil I will be seeing later this month.    I have yet to see Niagara Falls, but still need to get to Vermont, and will get over there then, probably in the next couple of years.   Sounds like a great trip with Al & Peggy.  Haven't seen them for years.

Hi Ed,
Your post reminded me of when my husband and I visited Niagra Falls when we were on our way to pick up our daughter from an 18-month Mission. Quite a sight.

Hello Ed - reconnecting with people doesn't need to end.  Although doing so I can prove to be a challenge at times.  It can happen, not only throughout ActiveRainLand, but in everyday life.

Hi, Ed. I have never been to Niagara Falls. It is only one of the fabulous places in the U. S. that I have never visited. When I travel, it is usually to a beach next to warm ocean water. I am missing lot but that is my choice, I guess.

Great place for a meet-up, Ed! Loved the photos - especially the last one!

We were there many years ago when the kids were quite young but have never been back. Would love to see it again!

Ed Silva, 203-206-0754 - What a nice "Throwback Thursday" post! Thanks for retelling your story. It was so interesting and delightful too! Meeting up with Al and Peggy and reviving the hilarious quirkyness of Craig was so cool!

I can think of no better place to meet-up than Nigara Falls. That's where I went on my honeymoon. We were on both sides, New York and Canada. Then we took our children there when our son was two years old.

Wouldn't it be great if you and your wife, Al and Peggy, and Craig could meet up again at Niagara Falls? Do you remember when we had those crazy Movie Challenges? Roger was heavily involved and who could forget Sharon Tara getting us all dolled up to look glamorous! I could see you writing a story and winning the Globe Award for a movie you produced, directed, and acted in Niagra Falls.
