Unfortunately most people have no idea what real estate sales is all about.
Real estate sales quite different from retail sales. I used to sell soap at Montgomery Ward (I believe it was 555 S Broadway) in Denver, Colorado.
Real estate sales takes a great deal of your time, it is not necessarily a 40 hour a week job. I recall in Columbus Ohio I was driving around the outer loop they called it at 2:00a.m. in order to get a counter to a counter to a counter signed. I understand I do not know any other agent that would do such a thing, except maybe Joseph Barker, a friend who I suggested he get a real estate license about two years ago.
Real estate sales requires being able to do research to find the right home for your buyer, or knowing where and how to market a home for your seller, there is much work and time required to accomplish either of these two tasks.
Real estate sales requires knowing how to LISTEN to your client, it requires ASKING QUESTIONS and ASKING MORE QUESTIONS. Somewhat like a dentist works, they touch and ask does that hurt, touch another and ask does that hurt, touch and ask again does that hurt, until they find the RIGHT ONE.
Real estate sales requires being a great PEOPLE PERSON, this means caring about the client, it requires creating a relationship with the client, becoming connected. Letting them see you care about them, and are looking out for their needs.
Real estate sales requires COMMUNICATIONS. Forty years the National Association of Realtors said the LACK of COMMUNICATIONS was the biggest complaint that people have with regards to using a Realtor. Keeping in touch with your client, sometimes daily, sometimes even hourly. Keep your client up to date as to what is going on or what is NOT going on. Call them, Talk face to face, Text them, Email them. Send them a HAND WRITTEN NOTE.
These are some of the things I have done since 1978.
I hope your day is as great as mine,
