211 W. Woodruff Searcy AR sold loved 1855 built

Front of 1855 built home in Searcy AR

I wrote a blog a few weeks ago begging for this house to be saved......not bought at foreclosure auction and torn down as so many of our historic houses have been! Click    https://activerain.com/droplet/HG5S  for blog   .  It has now been bought by a person who loves it and respects it and calls it home!  She even says that it was partly my fault that she bought it because the blog brought it to her attention!

She even invited me to tour it!  Which I proudly did!  We started with the basement.  She is a great historian and has studied the history of the house and she says that the basement once held the kitchen which seemed impossible to me when I got into itHere we are peering into an interesting spot in the basement.

And here is the new owner by herself.  She grew up in Searcy but has lived elsewhere for the past number of years so she knows and loves the town and is proud to be back and live in a lovely historic home.  She did say I could mention her name in this blog.....Elizabeth (Libby) Wait Gardner.....and that she intends to love that house forever!

Now I am hoping that she will comment on this blog and tell us all she knows about it.  I am even suspicious that this is the oldest home in this town.  So many homes have been torn down to make parking lots or other things.  Now we have an owner who is going to maintain it in style.  Help me out on this mystery, Searcy Sleuths!!

Thank you, Libby Gardner, for buying this house!

Hello Barbara - we often wonder who, if anyone, is reading our posts.  This example proves that such things happen in quite remarkable ways.  I look forward to any updated information which I hope is plentiful.  Thank you for sharing this story.

How wonderful that Libby read your post and saved this house. It would be very interesting also if it WAS the oldest house in Searcy!
