People visit the Poconos to see all of the beauty it has to offer. Beauty can be found in state parks, gamelands, lakes and rivers: there is no end to the natural spaces the region has to offer. Part of what keeps the Pocono Mountains beautiful is a commitment to maintaining its wilderness and designated recreational areas. One such place that has seen the benefit of investment in its upkeep is the Seven Tubs Recreation Area just outside of Wilkes Barre, PA, which received a one million dollar sprucing up just last year.
Seven Tubs, or “the Tubs”, as it is known to locals, spans across 400 acres. The recreation area is named for the tubs, or pools of glacial meltwater, speckled throughout the area. Despite its impressive size, the area is home to just two hiking trails: the Main Loop that brings hikers straight to the tubs, and the Audubon Loop: just under two miles with spectacular views of the mountains and stream.
