Some of you might know that May is Mental Health Awareness Month. Throughout the entire month its encouraged to highlight and recognize the importance of mental health advocates, prevention organizations, and community members who educate, bring awareness and share resources to help individuals and families affected by mental health issues.

On May 5th, 2024 I had the pleasure and honor of preforming with SHAMAN, a band created by Steven Dee Harris at The Music Heals the Heart Fundraiser in Westbury, NY. This fundraiser is hosted every year in memory of Eric. C. Doll.
All proceeds are donated to the Long Island American Foundation for Suicide Prevention, the Cope Foundation & the Eric C. Doll Calhoun High School Memorial Scholarship.

Music is amazing in what it can do. I was reading a little while ago how it can help those with dementia or Alzheimer's by stimulating memories.

Hey Nick, yes! Its fascinating! I also host weekly drum circles for the Parker Jewish Institute in New York, where we gather care takers and those navigating dementia and Alzheimer to co-create healing drumming patterns while providing a safe space for self-expression, exploration and fun :)

Music is a natural way to calm and sooth anybody, except for the heavy percussion styles.
