As a top realtor in South Pasadena I see every manner of historic home. That's because South Pasadena doesn't allow historic homes to be demolished - only restored or renovated. Since the vast majority of homes were built between 1900 and 1940 - that means the prevailing inventory of homes for sale are historic.
While some homes in South Pasadena are thoroughly modernized, others retain architectural details and character from a bygone era.
In the past week I went to tour a home for sale with a client of mine - it is a remarkably well preserved Spanish home built in 1932! I would venture to say that it is a rarity - even for this historic community - to see a property that is almost untouched from 1932 until now.
