My love affair with Korean cuisine began years ago when I visited South Korea. The streets were busy, with all the tempting food stalls lining every corner.

I tried different dishes such as bibimbap and kimchi pancakes. But nothing compares to the Korean BBQ I had with my family!

We’d sit around a grill, cooking marinated meats until they were just right. Then we’d wrap them in crisp lettuce and eat them with other yummy side dishes. It was so much fun!

When I returned to Provo, Utah, I craved that same Korean BBQ. So, what did I do? I started looking for the best Korean BBQ places nearby.

I found some great ones in and near Provo, and I can’t wait to share my favorite places with you!

Ombu Grill Korean BBQ is the talk of the town in Provo/Orem. It was established as an all-you-can-eat Korean BBQ restaurant in 2017. We didn’t know it would be amazing when we went there to celebrate my son’s birthday.

When we walked in, we smelled the mouthwatering aroma of cooking meat right away. We knew we were in for a treat! We had made reservations, so we were seated quickly. They gave us the tools we needed–chopsticks, tongs, and scissors for grilling!

We started with appetizers such as fried dumplings and fried shrimp. But the best was the Kimchi fried rice–it was perfect!

Then came the meats–pork belly, sirloin steak, and beef tongue. We cooked them on the grill ourselves, with some help from our waitress. The beef tongue was amazing!

We also tried the prime beef brisket, Hawaiian beef steak, and Korean beef bulgogi. They were all delicious!

Even though we were getting full, we couldn’t say no to trying the spicy pork belly, cajun shrimp, and Kimchi soft tofu soup.

Our waitress surprised us with a mango mochi dessert for my son’s birthday to end the meal. It was complete with a candle and a chorus of “Happy Birthday.” It was such a sweet way to end the meal!

Cupbop is my top choice whenever I want a quick and delicious meal in Provo Utah.

Instead of serving BBQ in traditional rice bowls, Cupbop serves it in convenient cups. My kids love the Rock Bop, a tangy fried chicken dish, while I can’t resist the Veggie Bop with extra noodles and crunchy cabbage. It’s a healthy and satisfying option for me.

No meal at Cupbop is complete without a side of kimchi. Kimchi is one of my favorite foods, and Cupbop’s version is always fresh and tasty.

I also get Milkis to drink. It’s a popular Korean drink that’s creamy, fizzy, and addictive! It’s the perfect companion for your BBQ at Cupbop.

Must-try dishes at Cupbop — Korean BBQ in a Cup in Provo Utah:

  • B Bop — BBQ beef (643 cal)
  • Mondoo Bop — deep-fried potstickers (607 cal)
  • Rock Bop — Zingy fried chicken (1293 cal)

Cupbop — Korean BBQ in a Cup offers vegetarian or gluten-free options for:

  • Doochi Bop — fried tofu (532 cal)
  • Noodle Bop — sweet potato noodles (574 cal)

What makes Cupbop stand out is its big heart for the community. From their humble beginnings as a food truck in 2013, they’ve grown into a beloved chain with locations across the U.S. and abroad. Through their Bopsim Foundation and programs like the Solid Ground Campaign, they give back to teachers, students, and Korean culture.

My family and I decided to try Yummy’s not too long ago, and we had a great dining experience! Our server was attentive and friendly, guiding us through the menu and offering recommendations.

We tried everything, from the savory beef bulgogi to the mouthwatering garlic chicken. Yummy’s also has a variety of kimchi, including cabbage kimchi, oi kimchi (sliced cucumber kimchi), and mu chae (sliced radish kimchi).

The kimchi’s tangy and spicy flavors complemented the richness of the meat.

Some popular dishes to try at Yummy’s Korean BBQ restaurant in Orem Utah:

  • Teriyaki chicken — house-famous chicken marinated in Teriyaki sauce
  • Beef bulgogi — marinated thinly sliced beef grilled at the table
  • Spicy pork bulgogi — marinated (soy and Korean red pepper based) thinly sliced pork
  • Chicken katsu — tender fried chicken cutlet with katsu sauce on top
  • Garlic chicken — house favorite crispy fried chicken in garlic sauce (soy-based)
  • Spicy pork belly — thick pork belly marinated in spicy sauce
  • Beef kalbi — marinated (soy-based) thinly sliced beef short ribs
  • Pork kalbi — marinated (soy-based) pork steak
  • Teriyaki chicken kalbi combo — sliced marinated (soy-based) beef short ribs with teriyaki chicken
  • Pork belly — premium pork belly grilled at the table
  • Chadol — thin beef brisket

We learned about the family behind Yummy’s. Sun Choi and his parents have worked hard to bring the authentic flavors of Korean BBQ to Utah. Their journey from Hawai’i to opening Utah’s first All You Can Eat Korean BBQ and Sushi restaurant is inspiring.

We also discovered that Yummy’s Korean BBQ is the only Korean BBQ restaurant in Utah to source Certified Angus Beef Prime Grade Beef. Their premium pork belly is sourced from the main supplier for all Korean BBQ restaurants in Los Angeles.

Katerina Gasset even though I have not eaten Korean food before, everything you ordered sounds amazing EXCEPT for the beef tongue.  I don't eat anything that has been in someone else mouth.  🤣
