Grab the Vacuum, It's That Time of Year.

Well it's that time of year where I am finding bits and pieces of our dog (Baby) all over our house. Black dog, light colored carpet, pretty hard to hide that.

Well, as bad luck would have it Carol's whiz bang top of the line vacuum cleaner died about two weeks ago. As good luck would have it a new office tenant in the building decided that for their new office they needed a new vacuum and thus threw out there old (about a month old) vacuum. It works perfectly BUT it is a really inexpensive model compared to Carol's recently deceased expensive model. In all honesty it almost looks like a toy.

I am prepared for Carol to say "get me a good vacuum", after all I appreciate good quality tools. On the other hand both Carol and I love a bargain so she may decide to stick with what she has until it dies... which may not be long as they usually only live about 4 years in our home.

Advice to young men: NEVER give your wife a vacuum cleaner as a gift. Don't bitch about the price, after all it's one of her top tools and you wouldn't want a piece of crap tool for a lawn mower would you?

A top of the line vacuum especially when you have a dog is a must have! Smart man....not a gift, a necessary housekeeping tool!

Hahaha, about giving your wife a vacuum cleaner as a gift. I distinctly recall the reaction when my dad gave my mom one for her birthday. That never happened again.

Good morning, Bob... some 15 years ago I gave in a purchased a Miele vacuum cleaner. It was around $1,000 then. Still working like a charm. Before that, I was replacing vacuum cleaners every two years. I say the same about hair blow dryers. Used to go through at least two a year. 18 years ago I have in and splurged on a professional dryer for $150 and it lasted for 18 years. I just recently replaced it for $150 because it was on a 50% off sale. I expect it will do me fine now for the rest of my life.

I had not heard of Miele before Nina Hollander, Broker so thank you for the tip. Are they a light? I'm hoping it's not like those monstrous Kirby's that even have a transmission because they are so heavy. I agree with your economics, once every 20 to 30 years instead of every 2 years.

Bob "RealMan" Timm good morning, Bob... I have a Miele canister vacuum cleaner... don't care much for uprights. Miele is a German company considered the Cadillac of appliances.

I keep calamine lotion handy Brian England . Our late springs and summers are usually filled with misquotes. Lotions and potions are a must for us camping.
