While Philemon was clearly in the wrong here it reminds me that we (almost) always have the option to walk away and to avoid confrontation.

That being said...

As Agents we do have a fiduciary responsibility to rightly defend/uphold the case of our clients. Don't misread that as "right or wrong" we are obligated to fight for our clients. Most of us want to be known as a nice person but that doesn't mean we need to be total milk toasts and let unjust demands be made of our clients/principals. If you don't have a backbone you don't belong in the business of being an advocate for a client.

Good afternoon Bob. No matter how state law defines your duty to a customer, ethically you are obligated to give it your best effort.

Hi Bob,

I totally agree if you are not going to do right by your clients then you have no business being a Real Estate Agent. We are their voice!

Correct Steve Higgins . Thankfully those who just show up are usually out of the business within a year.

Hi Bob I wholehearted agree with you.  Standing up for our clients best interests is part of our job and whether it's easy or not it must be done. I've always looked at this as strictly 'business' and didn't let the foolishness of an agent acting not so great get in the way. I go by the book and if need be involved their broker. It has always worked out.

Yes, I too have had to go over the agents head to their Broker Anna "Banana" Kruchten . Usually the Broker has a cooler head and enough experience to know what is right and wrong.
