Moving Made Easy... Leave the House Furnished
Selling furnished homes in vacation areas such as beachfront, golf, or mountain resort properties is not unusual, probably because many people have second homes. But why not extend that concept to regular resales?
In a recent conversation with a seller, the idea of leaving the home furnished came up. They might be "rightsizing" (I don't like the term "downsizing") and moving into a newly built condominium. Since the large, lovely house is fully and comfortably furnished, why not leave it as is?
Imagine a family moving from out of town, a first-time buyer, or a buyer with the same idea: selling their home, condo, or townhouse furnished.
You may have a spacious home with a living and dining room, storage, a large family room, multiple bedrooms, a sunroom, a large modern kitchen, a garage with a workshop, and more. It is furnished perfectly for each space. How are you going to use that in your new home? How are you going to move it all? How are you going to repurpose, donate, or empty out your home of many years?
Most owners will not need this specially chosen furniture for their new home. What to do with it?
- Place it in storage for future use.
- Have the children, friends, or neighbors pick what they want.
-Sell or donate it.
Here is another idea:
Leave the items for the new buyers. It is unlikely that everyone will appreciate every aspect of the property. However, having all rooms ready for immediate occupancy is a significant advantage. Consider the cost savings associated with not needing to engage a full-service moving company for either the buyer or the seller. It eliminates the need to store items and coordinate movers within a specific timeframe.
Will this work for everyone?
Of course not, but it might be a good solution for some. Have you thought about this for your buyers and sellers?
